An accurate radio altimeter with a dual-channel (quadrature) homodyne receiver is presented in this article. This new design improves the accuracy while operating in the standard 4.3GHz radio-altimeter allocation. The new radio altimeter is intended as a landing aid for small general-aviation aircraft, experimental aircraft and UAVs and is equipped with a simple synthesized-voice human interface. [via]
