I just returned from the Milano Salone del Mobile which was very unusual for me: no large and complicated show pieces this year. Instead a small but significant project, a piece of jewelry for Flos to mark the start of a new working relationship that will develop new lighting designs in the near future. The small brooch uses the principle of persistence of vision to recreate the Flos logo in light. When moved the 7 tiny LEDs draw the logo in space, a subtlety that can be discovered unintentionally when glancing past the lights, yet remains hidden when the onlooker focuses onto the brooch.

This is PIC16F628 and pic16f84 base inductance/capacitance meter design by Phil Rice VK3BHR.Measuring range is from 0 to >0.1uF for capacitance and 0 to >10mH for inductance.Expected accuracy is +/- 1% of reading +/- 0.1pF or +/- 10nH.This project is a combination of two stolen designs.The oscillator design originally came from the AADE LC meter web page. It uses an LM311 comparator with positive feedback to make a parallel LC oscillator with digital output. It seems to oscillate readily over a wide range of L and C values. Hopefully, it follows the “well known formula for resonant frequency”.The frequency measuring part is a cut down version of the September 2002 Frequency Meter article from Amateur Radio magazine. This circuit is a church bell controller. Basic component is an ATmega32 microcontroller. At the circuit 1 24LC32 eeprom memories is being used.
As control I created a menu who will be appeared on 4×20 LCD (Liquid Crystal Display). The menu browsing can be done by 6 buttons at the face of the circuit’s box (Menu, Up, Down, Enter, Start, Stop). The all firmware binds about 30Kbytes flash memory and can be increased by adding new features-functions. This program has been written in C with CVAVR compiler.
