OpenMT is an open source hardware project for developing a super thin multitouch surface. Unlike camera-based multitouch, OpenMT lets people make a thin, flexible multitouch surface with Arduino and everyday materials. Check some videos showing the performance here.
After pursuing several years to find an easy-to-use and cost effective multi-touch hardware development platform, I almost concluded that there are no vendors or solutions to meet my (company’s) needs. It is true that companies like Synaptics, Cypress offer such multi-touch ICs, it is impossible to get their products as a small company or a DIY engineer.
So, I decided to make my own. The video below is the result:
