This is a 21/2 axis CAD/CAM software for Mills, Lathes, EDMs and waterjets. The "Save"utility is crippled as also the NC editing function.

SharpCam

SharpCam is an affordable 2.5/3D CAM (Computer Aided Manufacturing) system for the programming of CNC machine tools. Available in three editions - SharpCam 2.5D, 3D and 3D Pro. We built an interface so that at any time you can do what you want, when you want... and what's more, the CNC code is written as you go, fully post processed and ready to use. It's that simple! CAM systems, of any price, always seem to fall short of their CAD counterparts, we don't think this should be the case. This was the inspiration behind the development of SharpCam software.

eCam

ECam is a programming system for CNC lathes and machining centers . It combines features of CAD / CAM systems with typical features of conversational programming. It's not necessary experience with CAD systems to use this software. Designed to speed up the g-code generation for simple part component , it makes it easy for you generate gcode for your cnc machine If most of your production consist in simple component and you feel common cad/cam are an overkill for your jobs , give a try to ecam, probably it will fit your needs.

HeeksCNC

HeeksCNC is an open source CAD/CAM application. Free CNC mill CAD/CAM. It'a CAM add-on to HeeksCAD, both of which are works in progress. Get the latest Windows version here http://www.heeks.net Written in C++, HeeksCNC uses HeeksCAD http://code.google.com/p/heekscad/. The user can add machining operations. These can then be output to NC code. The NC code is then shown as red and green lines on the screen. The NC code is generated using Python script, so it can be configured for different machines. FreeMill

Fully functional free 3-axis mill CAM software with tool path simulation and G-code generation. It doesn't have a CAD modeler, so you'll have to create that data in some other software. It will open the following file formats - their own commerical product VisualMILL, STL, Rhino .3dm, VRML and raw triangle files. Download requires registration.
