USB to wireless to netowork

I have a weather station with a USB output to a computer.

When connected to a laptop a program on the laptop transfers information from the station.

I would like to simply remove the wired link, make it wireless to the laptop.

I am not asking anyone to design the unit. I am skilled in PCB making (via Eagle), and electronics in general. Just asking
if someone can help point me in the right direction.

I have done some research and thought about going from USB to XBee then XBee to home network, suggestions welcome.

Seriously would like to complete this project, again just not sure how to start. Much thanks in advance.

Ok, looks reasonable to and I am finding hardware to do go from USB to SPI serial and back again, will explore this direction for a while and see where it leads.

I can't believe that 129 people read this and had nothing to say at all. Maybe that is a good thing, maybe it isn't.
