This is a nice site but it does not fit my browse.  I use Microsoft Outlook to view all web site and this one seems to be too big.  Ill post a screen Shot

I am going to have to agree. Resolution is anoying enough to turn alot of people away.  The site has great content but you should fix the resolution.  I would suggest removing the long spacer on the left side of the screen and the site would fite a little better atleast for me.

Check out www.codingforums.com and get some help with your site.  Almost every good site on the net allows for multiple resolution and it really is not that hard.  You simple have to use percentages of page width and heigth instead of pixels or inches.

I could not find a registration button on the home page. I had to come to the Community to register.  I think where you allow users to login at the home page you should also include a link to the registration page

I like it but at the top of the forums where it shows where your at the current forum is like like blue or something.  It is barely visable against the white backround

I was wrong it's the words that tell you what page in the site your on. Not the fourm page.  Home ---> community

I can barely see the community word

and in all honesty i think your server is slow.  What speed are they running you at.  I am on a T5 lan line and its taking atleast 6 to 10 seconds for page loads.  Your not the only one tho. Electro-Tech-Online has the same issue.

Now that i got your attention i will let you know why it is a bad idea to create a general topic.  It is because of threads like "Nude Girls" and "My car smells funny" topics like these take away from the focus of the site and should not be allowed.  Your general topic should be more like a Other topic.  Other things related to electronics but not related to anyother topic here.

You can use IE or MyIE,Mozzilla,Opera,......and many other alternatives. I dont see a reason to use outlook as a browser.

I could but i prefer outlook.  I never lags when loading a page like IE does and i can monitor my incoming mail at the same time. I get alot of it.

It would be much more practical for the site admin to fix his page beause even thos he thinks most people run a higher resolution it is in fact true that the majority of internet users are still running a low resolution and also that long stripe down the left side of the page serves no purpose.

Im only giving you my opinion from a web builders point of view.  I have created many and i have hung out at codingforums.com where tons of web masters talk about standards and all kinds of good stuff. Go ask one of the people at codingforums.com to do a review on this site and im sure alot of them will respond with many helpful and very correct tips

Also i cant stay logged in.  I click the button to stay logged in and for some reason every time i return i have to re logg in.  This get annoying  i dont have this problem with any other forums so i think its on your end and not mine.

Please dont think that im trying to bad mouth this site. I know what is like to try and run a free site and keep it up to date while mantaining you daily life.  I was the author of CBeginnersUnited.com and was forced to take it down because i just did not have time to keep it up.  This is why the web master of this site should consider adding features which would limited access to certain pages but still allow select people to help him maintain the site.  Using PHP which he seams to know fairly well he could set up certain ADMIN pages so that people who have a intrest in seeing this site succeed can help keep the content updated.

And if you want hits you need to get you web links on other forums. I would recommend doing this in a little less noticable fashion such as type the word Electronics forums into google then click the first 10 forums you see and ask a question.  Make it a question that is relative to the site and the end your question by saying something like "I checked other forums such as electronic-labs.com but found nothing"

Because those sites are high on googles list the google bot will search those site for update content more often than others and the bot will find you link on their site and goto it.  From there the bot will take a snap shot of you page and gradually start monitoring it.  The more times the bot comes to this site and see new content it will increase your ratings and move you up to the top of the google list.  This takes about a year to get a goo ranking but when i did my site it took me about 1 month and i was atleast listed.  The more conent changes you make the higher the rankings you will get.

I would list the forums in Alphabetical Order.  It makes the site look more organized.  Not something most would think to care about but i once took a class on things that our mind picks up yet we dont think about it directly.

For instance you would never think that forum topics should be alphabatized but you would think of them to be listed in order of importance.  Try it once and you will probably like the look of you site 10 to 20% more

You should Capitalize pass in the home pages login section.  It looks funny to me

You seem to be fairly good at graphics.  I wonder if you could posibly create some flash animations ar gif annimations which would help beginners learn electronics.  I know one of the ways i was taught in school was to relate electronics to water.  The only thing is that we used book so the water images were stills.  If you created a beginners tutorial with water animations you could demonstarte how the current actually flows through certain components and you could use damns as resistors and such.

Hello Squintz

Your comments are welcome. I know the problem with the screen resolution, but it can't be fixed now. To be fixed I must redesign all the site from beginnig and i haven't the time and the courage to do that. This design is only a few months old.

I will take care of this issue in my next site design. Also as you can see in statistics: http://www.nedstatbasic.net/s?tab=1&link=5&id=271744

a percentage of 29.7 % of my site's visitors has resolution 800x600
Your situation is special because you have 1024x768 resolution but you use Outlook to view webpages. If you open the site in IE the bottom slider will disapear.

Another point is that the default resolution in our days is 1024x768 and not 800x600 which has some old monitors (that are bad for the eyes also).

ok you proved your point that more people use a higher resolution but alot do still use a low one.

If the numbers were 90 to 5 then i would say keep the high resolution site.  But there are simple ways arround this. And your right it may take a few weeks to change it all when your working on the site only part time but it is as simple as changing your units to percentages. This allows you to view the site in a state which is not full screen.  Im sure i am not the onlyone having this problem either.  Many people like to view more than one web site at a time and many people are using AOL which only allows them to view at a certain percentage of their full screen.

Also web search engine bots are very smart.  If you want your site to get good rankings then you should optimize it so the no matter who views it, it will still be readable. Even if you did one page a day.  Starting with the home page and working your way in.  We would all atleast realize that your working on the problem and we would probably shut up about the situation and start participating in the electronics part of the site.

I like this site.  It looks good for the most part and hopefully you will keep it tidy uped so you will get many members.

But i really am getting tired of having to log in every time i come here.  Is anyone else having this problem? It may verywell be my computer. I doubt it tho.  My cookies are turn on!

I would like to offer my help with this site if you need it.  I have building sites as a hoby for about 6 years and have some backround in PHP and MySQL along with Java Script and HTML.  The reason i stoped doing sites is because i suck at graphics.

Here look at this thread http://codingforums.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=27333&highlight=Resolution

I think the last member that posted to it pretty much sumed it up

One more thing.... This is what it looked like in netscape.  I now only a few percentage of you veiwers use netscape based browsers but what if the 3 or 4 percent of the netscape users are also using  1024 X 768  This means that now only 49% instead of 52% are viewing the page in the way it was intended to be viewed.  And as you member list grows larger your numbers will change and you could possibly be lossing 40% of your visitors from repeat returns because they are simply annoyed by the sites layout.

At this point.. to make it 800x600 compatible i must change among the number of pixels each table takes all the graphics. The graphics are designed for 1024x768 and can't fit to 800x600. Also i am an amateur designer.. so excuse moi !! Believe me it's not easy to change 612 pages !

Maybe in the future i make this change. For the moment this is above my forces.

612 Pages?Huh Why? CSS...Cascaded Style Sheets and Templates will allow you not to have to do this.  In the future use those instead.  And i know that the community fourm uses templates so the change in those would be easy.  As for the images.  If you use percentages with those also most if not all browsers i know of will automaticly resize the picture using percentages.

But since you dont even seem to want to atempt to fix your mistakes then I will continue to use Electro-tech-online.com for the forum and will only use this site for informational purposes.

Sorry! but you really make the task at hand seem harder than it reall is. I think you should look into getting help with site.  Make some trusted friends on the internet and allow them access to your ftp site. They can help you fix the problems.

I already added a "register" link to the main page, under the login box.

About the Community word you don't see easy, it's because it's gray and your brightness is too high. Readjust your monitor brightness and you will be able to see it.

About the server (you mentioned that is slow) i can't do anything. I can't change a web hosting company because this I have has the best features/price ratio I found. Have you got a fast server and want to freely host www.Electronics-lab.com? Let's talk about it.
Surrelly there is a limit on download speed set by the hosting company to prevend bandwith abuses. I don't know what's exactly the limit.

About the General Topics... a common people understund that we always talk about Electronics here  Shocked. So i will delete your post about Nude Photos! You are the first posting out of theme topic.

Please don't make multiple posts to continue your thoughts. You can click edit button on your previous post and edit it by adding more text. Let's keep this forum clear.

Thanks about Google tips.

About the Alphabetical (this is a Greek word!  Wink) order i don't thik it's the best. Now the firtst message is the newest poste or answered. This i think is the best order to "promote" the new posts.

About the flash animations... i haven't the time to do them. Istead you can check this site: http://www.electronics-lab.com/links/jump.php?425

I am not a CSS expert and my site isn't designe with templates. Try to save a page to your hard disk and modify it to fit all resolutions. Then send it to my email.

I trying to do my best!

The last point is that I am not desiging sites all day and living from them. I have more to do in a day trying to survive in this bloated world !!!!

Quit whining!
If the pictures are not big you can not use the Data because it becomes unreadable . Especially the complicated schematics.
If they are reduced to your Browser size they will be useless.
