Homemade Solar Panels Diy tutorial

kurtscottage @ youtube.com writes:

In this video I’m showing you how I built some solar panels from start to finish I tried to make it as detailed as possible. These panels cost me very little to build and are fun projects for everyone. This is just one way of doing this there are lot’s of others doing this and good videos out there. Presently I’m using my panels at a job site where there is no electricity available they are running my RV off the grid. These panels are not encapsulated but they work well and low cost not for on roof installation best to be close to ground for inspection.

LG “rolls out” latest flexible and transparent OLED panels

By Darren Quick @ gizmag.com:

After unveiling the world’s first flexible OLED TV at CES earlier this year, LG has gone a step further with the unveiling of two new 18-inch OLED panels: the first is a transparent display, while the second can be rolled up. Although both fall short of the 77-inch flexible TV on show at CES, the company says the new panels prove that it has the technology to bring rollable TVs with screens in excess of 50 inches to market in the future.

Knob Panel Potentiometer with Switch

Vishay has introduced a new concept in panel mounted potentiometers. The innovative design intended for military, (professional) audio and industrial applications consists of a knob driving and incorporating a cermet potentiometer and a switch. Only the mounting hardware and terminals are situated on the back side of the panel reducing to a minimum the required clearance.

The new potentiometer with a value ranging from 22 Ω to 10 MΩ is available as a cermet device for military applications (P16S) or with a conductive plastic element for audio applications (PA16S). The cermet version can dissipate 1 W, the plastic version 0.5 W. With its hermetically sealed case (IP67) the potentiometers require a mounting clearance of only 15 mm. The knobs can be plastic or metal, custom knobs are available on request. [via]

Solar Grid-Intertie Inverter

timnolan.com writes:

For the last year I’ve been working on a prototype for a Solar Inverter that can be Grid Intertied. A solar inverter takes the 12V DC (or other voltages) from the solar panels and converts it to 120V AC which is the power that most of your household appliances use. A Grid-Intertied inverter allows you to feed that power back into power grid (your house power) to help power your household appliances.

My goal was to design a small inverter, about 100W, that could be used with one solar panel and could be grid intertied. My second prototype (pictured above) has achieved these design goals. So on these web pages I’m going to document the design of the hardware and the software of my solar inverter. I’m releasing these designs to public without restrictions. All I ask is that if you use any of my design that you credit me and add a link back to this website. I hope these designs will help further the work of other people in this area.
