  1. Depends on the compiler. take High Tecks C compiler used on microchips. You can get a free trial version to try it out but it is not totaly optimizes like the program you buy, so the program you write and compile with the free version is biger(more lines of code) then the optimized version. second, the problem with using different C compilers not written for the microcontroller you have is the header files are missing and they just can't be copy and placed in a library because the compiler wouldn't know how to use them. most of the programs written for microchips are interperters that use the basic asm commands and the turn it into a more user friendly type language like C or basic. check out great cow basic once its a free compiler and commutity supported. http://gcbasic.sourceforge.net/ . there all written on top of asm wich is almost machine language have fun gogo
  2. hello you could try a large run capacitor between the ac polls that should smoth out the feed back your are getting. gogo
  3. the cd 4017 needs a clock to make it work, could use a 555 for that gogo
  4. Hello ijap1012 this one will get you thinking Practical_Electronics_for_Inventors
  5. thanks for the reply Hero999 I can see were I was wrong with the 24 volts, but it would still need a logic 5 volts to trigger it right. witch is ok because I need 5volts on the board to drive the rest of the logic chips. I guess I need to read some of the Pminmo help forms to see what they were talking about. Something about that particular mosfet. don't know I guess I will just have to read on. Studing the board as it is was worth the learning experience. But as soon as I figure out how the gates and the flip flops work together I plan on doing the driver a different way. The step motors I am using only need 12 volts at max so I could use a uln2803 for the drivers and I want to have opto isolation too. thanks again Hero
  6. Hello I recently started a project, making a step motor controler board using IRLZ44 Mosfets (hex Mosfets) to control the power source to the motors. The way I understand them is they are either on or off no inbetween so if I set the circuit fo 12 volts when the mosfet is trigered 12 volts is sent. The board I am working on is using 5 volts for logic and 12 volts for the motor. Someware I read in order for the hex-mosfets to work the input voltage has to be twice the output voltage, so that would mean I would have to put 24 volts to the board, the step motors are only rated for 12. So back to were I don't know what I am doing. this is the board I am working on http://pminmo.com/3axis/3axis.htm thanks for any help you can offer. gogo
  7. Good luck with that, caller Id or answering machine, if you don't pick up the phone and leave it up for at lest for a minute the caller isn't charged, so when I am around and a auto teller market calls I pick up the phone and sit it on the counter untill the phone starts to beeb. That way the caller is charged for the call. eventualy they will run out of money and stop calling. if everybody did that the auto teller marketers would stop. gogo
  8. what are you trying to power up? batteries explode when they get to hot gogo
  9. Hello RenMan We would need more information on this, like counting what coming out of a hole, what kind of power source is availibly how much room do we have. just give us some more info and maybe we could go from there. gogo
  10. Hello here is a good place to shop online at they have different specials all the time http://www.alltronics.com/cgi-bin/category.cgi?category=5 gogo
  11. Hello gettingold Problrm with linux is permissions, exspecail with USB ports.there is some stuff on the net for work arounds but you might have better luck using a microchip mcu instead. gogo
  12. there are a lot of inexpensive 555 projects on the net, do some searching and see if you can find something you like
  13. hello were there just the three of them or four? They look like plain rectifying diodes.
  14. hello Iwilliams There is a couple of spinning led displays on the net here is one http://www.jwardell.com/about/juniorproj/intro.html I would use only 7 leds instead of 8 because of bcd to 7 segment conversion is much easier http://www.ece.mtu.edu/ee/faculty/gearcher/EElabs/EE2304/pages/week_4_bcd_to_seven_segment.html looks like fun, I would help but right now I got three projects going and I would really like to get at lest one done before I start into another one. have fun gogo
  15. Ya perf boards and projects boxes have been around for awhile. The bigest selling point is price and there is a lot of cheap stuff out there. So unless you can sell your stuff for a couple of bucks and make it affordable to the hobbyest you won't do much. have fun gogo
  16. Hello It could be done with photo-resist, the sonics are small but the traces are still about 8 to 12 mils no big deal. The problem is th art work. you would have to redraw it and print it out without the components showing. have fun gogo oh and that will be a hundred dollars for my advice, got any more insults you want to through at us
  17. If you have the laptop modle number you usually find one on ebay for around 20 bucks there are also new universal power adapters for about the same gogo
  18. hello protech Why can't you check it with a ohm meter? To me it looks like a 1.200 2% resister but I would wait for a secound opion. have fun gogo
  19. Hello Gromit to bad about the carbon paper not working,I was going to try it myself, but what you said after your test I think I will pass and avoid the mess. When I clean my boards I use a green scrub pad with some kitchen scrub powder. then whipe it with a little acid tone to remove any grease . I have a laminator but rather use a cloths Iron instead. the laminator doesn't seen to work as good. the only problem with the cloths iron is pressing to hard with it, the traces can flat en out and fill out gaps were you don't them filled. I don't know what you mean by gummed paper or not sure what it is. like I said before I use office gloss paper it has a clay finish on it to help smooth it or the ink out so its has that gloss photo finish. When I am ready to remove the paper all I have to do is soak it in warm water for a few minutes an the paper almost falls off. but ya I can still see some fibers of the paper still hanging on to the toner. to bad about the carbon paper have fun gogo
  20. AmericanCircuitTech That was a loaded question, a waste of are time, your a jerk.
  21. Can't help you on that. But you posted this question on three threads thats not good, so please only post your question in one thread other wise will think your spamming and ignore you gogo
  22. Thanks for the suggestion . please Let us know how the carbon paper trick works. this is the first time I ever heard of it. Oh and I use office gloss paper, works just like magizine paper. thanks again gogo
  23. I have been using the toner method for years with no problems. I tried the TRF white, thought it would be nice to have a pretty silk screen but I couldn't get it to transfer right. I tried a landury iron, and a laminator. neither would work right. I guess it all depends on the amount of toner that is used. If the toner is to thin the TRFwon't stick to it. Oh well it was just a test, my boards look fine with just black silk screenning. If I every got real serious about silkscreening I would invest in the real silkscreen set-up and not waste my money on TRF junk gogo
  24. hello audioguru Thank you for the right information. gogo
  25. boy I swear This thread is starting to read like a Linux man page with all the misinformation floating around, can some please post the right schematic and parts list for the 3amp supply. I think audio's is the right one but with all the European influence its hard telling ( just like Linux ). Not the 5amp just the 3amp. **I thought a 5amp thread was started years ago.** gogo
