  1. Staigen you are right I am new to electronics and find it easier to learn when I have something to study. I could see some interest in a front end for wideband oscilloscope connected to a computer. Or maybe a frequency counter. Capacitor meter is another good one. Something to do and help people study. good idea thanks gogo
  2. Hello ronald and welcome Heres a small tutorail on opto's Have fun gogo optocoup.pdf
  3. Those are good ideas, next time I do a strip board I'll try it. I got a question what is conformal coating. Is that like lacquer? gogo
  4. I thought an FPGA was a socket you put a chip into. Then I did a web search and found out that FPGA stands for Field Programmable Gate Array. I guess I don't know anything about fpga's but I do know a little about Microcontrollers and if I did a web search on just about any of the projects you listed something would show up. Good Luck gogo
  5. This place has most of what your looking for the rest is are common parts you can find any where. http://www.glolab.com/order/parts.html Or you could just buy one at http://www.electronics123.com/s.nl;jsessionid=ac112b6c1f4368a041005e5e44f99368b13ca6541a74.e3eTaxiMa38Te34Pa3mPb34QaNf0n6jAmljGr5XDqQLvpAe?category=50&it=A&id=448 for under 10 bucks. have fun gogo
  6. Hello mumcs01 Fist off (12-5) /.030 = 233.3333333 or 230 ohm's sencond think of voltage as pressure, the difference between two poles third think of current (amps) as volume, amount of electrons that are there that are being pushed by the pressure behind em. (voltage) Fourth Resistance Think of that as being something in front of the electrons that will try to stop the electons from passing through. at best slow them down. Now the more the voltage (pressure) behind the curent (electrons) the more Resistance it will take to stop the curent from traveling. If the circuit is 12 volts and you have a certain amount of amperage you want to use you would place resistance between the voltage and the needed curent. With the right amount of resistance it dosn't matter what voltage you are using as long as the electrons (curent or volume) are running in the right amount. .030amp means so much electroins (amount of volume), You could have a million volts behind the .030amps and as long as you have enough resistance to stop the electrons or slow them down to .030 amps ( volume of electrons) it will work. If you could do that the over all voltage of that circuit would be a million volts. The amps create heat. Someome figured that an amp is something like 6 billion single electrons moveing through a conductor in one second. (not me) and the more you slow it em down the more friction that is caused (heat). and that is were low voltage comes in, lower pressure means less resistance needed (less friction) witch means less heat. I hope this helps you gogo
  7. I didn't see anything at that site execpt a bunch of older over price stuff, Most of wich are brand X. gogo
  8. I bought a Phone at Radioshack that can do that. I can dial on both lines, but one on hold and talk on the other. Or haha but them both on hold and walk away. Neat the phone only cost about 20 bucks have fun gogo

    Jammers

I don't know anything about jammers but if anyone comes up with a personal cell phone jammer that say jams any reception within 15 yards let me know. I hate feeling like a ease droper. gogo
  10. Onther good place to find data sheets is at http://www.mouser.com/ If they sell it they have a data sheet for it gogo
  11. Sorry I can't help you I don't even know what pbx/pabx is. What are they? gogo
  12. Heres something to give you an idea of what a breadboard is and how it works. There all about the same just remember if the price is cheap you get what you payed for. http://www-ece.rice.edu/~jdw/unilab/breadboard.html gogo
  13. Hello I have seen that problem with the buzzing sounds. It comes froma bad soundcard or from a cheap suround sound system. I would look at Your hardware first befor looking at your neibors. gogo
  14. Welcome to the form Genecks I looked at the breadboard you had posted, Its not bad for the price, heres a smiular one http://store.yahoo.com/webtronics/wb-108-j.html Whats nice about this one is that it comes with jumpers. Also its coming from a good company that you can trust. gogo
  15. Cyril B. Playing with Pic's is fun and addicting. I guess i would want to know were your at as far as having the tools. Like a breadboard, extra parts to play with and so on. Radio Shack dose have some stuff but they are expensive. Also picbasic is ok but I found asm easier to learn and the compiler is free and there is a lot of free help on the web. have fun gogo
  16. Welcome ah a few things I noticed wrong. First use a 10K resistor for pin 4(MCLR) Then I was wondering why so many battires? You would only need one 9 Volt. Not all the leds will be on at once. Also you don't need the 4066's the pic will do all the work. I have a good web site tutorial link for you. http://www.mikroelektronika.co.yu/english/product/books/PICbook/picbook.htm I use asm and not sure if the code you are using is C or Basic. Have fun gogo
  17. Ya good question V8meathead, I would like to know too. :o gogo
  18. waferstar ::)The remote control unit is also very cheap. That is just about 4 USD for a receive module and two transmitter. Where do you find something like that and what is it called, I mean chip #. thanks gogo [move]Have a Nice Day[/move]
  19. I live in an old old house built around 1870's the wires for the electric were put in sometime in the 20's not sure but there is no coded wire all of them are bare and there must be at lest 100 proceline insulators in the house. Only thing new is the circutbox that was put in in the 60's. I don't mess with the wires in this house to much. Still haven't figured out how they got 220 running into the kitchen. ha gogo
  20. How fine of a trace do you use? I use .016'" and have no problem at all, Oh and I use office gloss paper instead of photo. gogo
  21. I use a aquarium heater. My tank is a simple tupperware cantainer I picked up at ST. Vinnys for a buck. Then I stoped off at Wallmart and bought a air pump and one of thoses long air stones and a heater. The heater cost the most, I think it was around 15 bucks. It takes the heater about one hour to heat the tank (my holds a gal.) to around 105 degs F. Been using it for over a year . gogo
  22. Heres a good site that has I belive what you are looking for http://www.marsport.demon.co.uk/smd/codeintro.htm have fun gogo
