  1. I've got from a friend a large quantity of inductors, looking bigger than 1/4W resistors, but smaller than 1/2W. They have 4 colored lines : blue, green, silver, black. What's the value of this inductor? Is there any way to check it ? TIA for help :) Nina
  2. Beginning to use Protel DXP, I've encountered some "beginner" problems, and I cannot find the answers in their help, so please, if you can help I'll be very thankful: 1. Some definitions: Beginning to draw a PCB, at the down part of the program I'm getting 17 layers, and I want to use only 3-4: Top, Bottom, Overlay and(maybe) 1 mechanical Layer. How do I get rid of the others? 2. If I want to use only the Bottom layer - how can I "hide" the other layers, and how can I navigate thru them? 3. How can I determine the defaults of track thickness and pad sizes, so I can use the same sizes over again? I know that there are some "default" sizes and holes for pads, that most of the manufactors like (60mils, 72 mils....) and the same for the holes.... where can I find any information about? 4. Are there any downloadable footprints libraries ? 5. The last one for now... :) I would like to make a "genuine" footprint, of let's say a 10 pins IC. I need "step by step" help making it and adding it to a library. Again, if anyone may have the good will to help, I'll be very grateful, as I really need it for a project I'm involved, and I'm stucked....
  3. I'm looking for a crystal controlled oscillator -110-130MHz for a very low power bug. I have a schematic (8 transistors !!!), not complete :( . 3 transistors for AF, 1 oscillator, 3 as doublers/triplers (I think) and one as "power output RF". I HAD a 3V bug, crystal controlled, and tried to copy its schematic without much success, as the components were too much "overpopulated" on the PCB. It was about 15 years ago, and I have only an incompleted schematic, the part that interests me is corrupted (the oscillator). It was about the size of 2/3 of a matchbox. I'm trying to find CCO bug schematics, not PLLs (I have built several). I've tried to get help from various sources, including relevant forums, searcing engines etc. and it seems that no one knows (or want to share its knowledge)how to build it with discrete components. I think it has to work at the 3d overtone, as 110-130MHz crystals are very hard to find and very hard to modulate...as far as I know... I think that for a "pro" is not too hard to find an idea how I may build such a device, but I've really tried to find any informations all over the searching engines more than 2 month....no way :( I'll be very thankful for any help, and even ready to pay if needed. TIA, Nina
