Thanks for responding to my post. The only other thing on the motors tag is peak current rating:12 amps max. As far as the budget goes, I've don't have any idea what electrical components cost so I dont have any set amount in mind. At this point any suggestions would be great!

I have a 38 volt dc permanent mag. 900 RPM motor. I want to use it for a faceting machine which is for cutting gemstones. Can anybody give me a design to follow to be able to run off of household ac power and control the speed?
