  1. Hi. Is there any way for testing Hots and Lopts and other transofrmers without expensive ecuiptment. like the transistor tester is there a way for testing transformers the same, with the 3 legs? If anyone knows of some schematics for a tester i would be most greatful. Also im testing diodes incircuit some test working but some give me false reading. till i take them out then they give me the proper reading, is it possible to test inboard without a false reading? thanks again
  2. before you say there is one on here already, i know being in australia components are limited and cant get any of them for it of the 74hs. Is there any other schematics around for ir network links? what would be better is if it could be usb network link so i can get better than 10mbs. If anyone can point me in directions to some schematics for more ir links i would be most greatful Thanks
  3. I have a external case that has its own powersuppluy on it, ive seen somehwere befor that u can get a 3.5 plug and a 2.5 plug and just rewire the pins to where they should go, and miss out the power, but cant rememebr where i saw it now :( anyone know where to get a pin out diagram of both standards? thanks
  4. Ive just picked up a 2.5 usb2 ide box, but want it for 3.5 inch drive. is it possible to make a conversion cable? is so how, thanks
  5. i will try that tomorrow in daylight, what are audio isolation transformers? how do i make one or is there a schematic for one anywhere. Thanks
  6. The amps nor hear unit run ground to the battery that are grounded to the chassie, i put a new 4agu ground cable from the battery to the chassie at the front of the car as was told would improve it, but never worked, so nothing is grounded direct to the battery, jsut throught the chassie. Thanks for the help so far.
  7. My amps are grounded at the very rear of the car with 2ft 4agu calbe. i beleive its not my head unit thats inducing the noise as its present when the headunit isnt turned on at all.
  8. I have the rca running down one side of the car and the power 0agu and remote cable down the other side, the head unit is grounded to the chassie not using the orig ground cable, the amps are both ground in the same place next to eachother with 4agu cable, the noise comes without the headunit turned on and its a whistling noise, also i can hear the changing when i indicate, (louder, quieter) ive tried changing the gains and it worked but the audio was almost off, no speaker / audio cable is near the power cables, not sure if its the spark plugs/ alternator/ or distro cap, ive changed the ht leads and its still noisey. Any suggestions, i have a turbo pac 1 line driver on, what was inducing alot of the noise but as its only small amperage i put a suppressor on that and that cured that. but when i unplug that from the amps its still there, what leads me to beleive i need a suppressor on the main power from the battery, whats the changing of the caps on the alternator, can you divulge more on that one? thanks
  9. Hi, is there a simple but good schematic for a noice suppressor for my car, im getting real bad engine noise from my car, it needs to be upto 15v and 50a and needs to be able to connect 0 gauge cable both ends. Thanks
  10. both my amps are rated 8ohm, i have one amp running rear 6x9 300w, and the amp is already bridged ton the 2nd 2 chans for a sub, so i run my sub off that, the other amp is the same, i would like to get a bit more power to my subs as they are in the boot and quiet, at the moment ive got the amp front set to pretty quiet so i can turn up the sub full.. Can i adjust or replace any ic or transistor in the amp just for that bit of extra power, so when i have the sub louder than the rear speakers they are bot a bit louder? Thanks And sorry ZomBiE for pinching your thread :D mabey u might find this of use :D
  11. The speakers i have are sony xplod speakers, 2x 6" 2x 6"x9" and 2 12" subs. I currently have 2x 4 chan amps only 30w rms Is there any way to change a transistor or something to give it a little more power, like 50w rms? also all my speakers are 8ohm, wish they was 4, would get more power from the amp :D
  12. i would be interested especially if its 12v so i can make it for my car. if not would be of use around the house, Thanks
  13. ok here is my idea, not sure how to put it all together, and what parts to use, if someone has a idea and would help me design this i would me most greatful and also post it one here when completed for others to use too. Below is my idea how it sould be. 1= line in from amp analoge pot. front speakers 2= line in from amp analoge pot. rear speakers 3= line in from amp analoge pot. Subwoofer 1 4= line in from amp analoue pot. Subwoofer 2 5= Line Selector button, Pref with display so i can see what line im choosing. 6= volume up button 7= volume down button 8= lines from selector to vol controlers. Ok. the lines from the pots on the amps are single gain lines, if it is possible to connect th signals from the amps to a chip that selects a line the sends it to the volume controlers, as only one line will be in power at once, i should be ablt to use onely one set of up / down buttons. Ok hope this makes sense, and remember im s dumb electronics person so u might want to explain more detail :D Thanks 8=
  14. Is there any wat to get this circuit to measure amps aswell or just amps? pref 20-40a
  15. Im after some sort of chip that you can put multiple inputs to it and with a button on it cycle through the inputs, then it forwards that signal off to somewhere else, even beter with a display that i can set the txt for, ie chan 1, chan 2, chan 3 etc... any ideas. Thanks in advance.
  16. my idea is to take it from the volume ctrl pot on the amps for each setting, rear, front, amp2 rear, front, im not a big electronic guru, i can read circuits and build them but that as almost my lmits thats why im on here :D I would like a volume control display, also would be good if only had 3 buttons, one to select the audio chan, and the other 2 for changing the volume, not sure how easy that is, and is there a schematic for a 12v to 5v converter anywhere? Thanks for your help so far.
  17. I found this schematic but i want it for my car, i will make 4 of them, one for front speakers, back speakers, 1 sub and other sub, but the problem is when the power is off it forgets the setting, i want it to be able to rememebr the settings without having the whole car ignition left on. Any help most greatful, thanks Schematic herehttp://www.aaroncake.net/circuits/volume.htm
  18. Hi, well these are my car ideas, i have bit of electronic experience, but need help now, 1st im looking for a schematic for a ammeter on my car, it will be placed at the end of my 0awg cable in before my amps so i can see how many amps my system is drawing, i 3 X 7seg display will be fine and amperage is upto 100a. any ideas? Also i have a schematic for a digital volume control http://www.aaroncake.net/circuits/volume.htm - but i want it for my car with a display so i can choose a chanel, ie rear, front, sub 1 or sub 2, then change the volume for what i select, also it has to remember, i know this circut forgets its setting when power off, bt it want it to remember too. If any one chan help i would be most greatfull, schematics would be super :) Thanks In advance Stu
