Hi there SILVERsound, and welcome to Electronics Lab :) How did you calculate the resistors? I belive they are totaly wrong, with maybe hte exeption of the colector resistors! ??? What are the amp used for? A guitar preamp? Have you measured the voltages on the transistors, I belive they are badly saturated. Oops, i belive I am tired, i did not saw that it is a guitar preamp! //Staigen

Hi there Renero, velcome to Electronics Lab! :) Can you tell us more what you mean? If you mean a universal IC tester, that can test all types of IC:s I belive it is not possible. :( There are so many types of IC:s, digital and analog amongst others. But if you mean a simple tester for 741:s and their clones it is simple, just make an oscillator with a low frequency, and let the output feed a pair of leds. :) //Staigen

And a relay will complicate things, and a linear regulator will waste power. But, a swiched regulator will be just fine, but will complicate things too. Staigen

Hi Bobbywolf, welcome to this forum, nice to have you here! ;D No no, this is not the way you should do it, the shunt is still connected, and can get damaged! Instead you should connect your currentfeeding wires for your winch to the battery directly. You wont get a correct reading on your meter when you use your winch, but do you need to have that? It is the same with your starter too! It will be correct in all other instances. //Staigen

I usally hit the preview first, and read my writing carefully and make changes and try to correct typos before posting. Hi when i build a cirquit i dont try to run the pieces at their maximum ratings or more, they usally break then, sooner or later. Also, when it comes to regulators like 78xx, i use bigger than normal electrolytics to avoid noise in the output. I remember a calculator i once repaired, it was around 1986 or so, a friend claimed that it have never been reliable, and now it did not work at all. I opened it up, and found that the regulator was broken, i also found that it was not bolted to the heat- sink, the bolt and nut was missing. I put in a new regulator and bolted it to the heat- sink, and it worked as it should after that. //Staigen
