  1. Ive just started getting into RC cars but the crystals i got are common frequencys, how could i make a device that you colud plug in several crystals and it would check which ones were in use? Only needs a led to show transmissions recived.
  2. This is a diagram of my cars ICE install. i shall do a write up when i find the part numbers but i hope its helpfull. Input to head unit is by Alpine's own stereo-2xphono lead, Console/monitors feed by 7.5V 3A adapters, tv input to monitors is by Av(video/mono audio) leads.
  3. ive got my ps1 in my car now but i need to know the pin outs for the avinput connection on the monitor.
  4. You do know that kinda circuit is illegal in the uk unless used of road or at shows? Halfords sell 4 X 5mm blue prewired for 12 volts that are bright, i had to adjust mine after a dash mount led lit up my windscreen.
  5. Oh heres some useful links on M-Bus/M-Link - http://joerg.hohensohn.bei.t-online.de/mbus/ http://www.cdchangeren.prv.pl/ http://kiora.ath.cx/alpine/ Multiple bus details. http://www.mictronics.de/?page=cdc_proto#Alpine And a diagram of an interface.
  6. i brought an Alipe unit(CD/radio + m-Link for changersitem code CDM- 9825RB which uses the M-Link but im running an mp3&playstation through the official imput lead (din to 2 X phono), when i was googling i found some one had started a "hack"but is still working on it. if you are thinking about trying this unit ill try to work out the wiring. BTW Alpines own lead is - KCM-122B
  7. Cool i can do it at home. I asked because i have a pile of computer ally and a large uncoated heat sink. if i every get the parts together ill post pics but - @GreekPIC when you done post pics of your setup and write an artical, fellow enthueast(sorry for bad spelling) will want to know how.
  8. Everyone at some point has to decorate the project cases but what paint to use. A project im working on (in car PSU for the PS) has to look factory fitted to what i want to do is, have an exposed finned heatsink painted white or blue with a ford badge on it but will paint trap the heat in? If so is there a conductive paint that wont insulate the sink? :-\
  9. look for a mag called EPE(Everyday Practical Electronics) they have a win dll made to help with LPT interfacing. Split the led/lcd circuits. the leds can be set up to light when data travels between the pc and the lcd using a PORT MONITOR which is nothing more then a M&F D25 with a risistor and led connected to D0-D7, at its most complicated it can contain a transistor.
  10. heres an idea a circuit like this |--/--| |--/--| |--/--| ----/\/\/-------/\/\/---------/\/\/------- the swithces are connected i parrallel with a risistor and connected to an analog Microprocessor (parralax stap) when a button is pressed the value of the chips pin changes and sends a value to the pc containing the pin and value to the pc.
  11. thanks but i was looking for info on driving the serial interface. FYI - the PHILLIPS chip was a custom job for for eather lexmark/intel or optrex and phillips refuse to give info on it.
  12. Please do im building a dvd player using a Epia m which has 5.1 and i was gunna use powered speakers
  13. ive looked and tryed to find information on this serial lcd but cat find any details. Can anyone help? lcd controller = M50530-001FP & M50524FP and Phillips 1325956;234CQ189509hc I can find any details.
  14. for the rs232 stage you may want to look into UART's and MAX 3222
  15. thanks but FYI Akasa fans only need +12V and - connected
  16. Whats the "yellow" wire on PC Fans?, can fans run without a connection if not haw do i run them?
  17. Actually its been very helpful, but im just trying to source sutiple parts.
  18. im not sure if im suggesting the right component but some sort of magnetic field dector (FET?) place on cable and use to trig the timer device!
  19. Its ground or earth. I have worked with pool pumps and indeed most pumps/motors will cause a drain when starting up. I would use two seperate power supplys but look for a Contactor(heavy duty relay)
  20. Thanks for the help. I was worried about under voltage protection but im sure it wont fall below 11V. All i got in electronics stors is maplins and they dont stock that chip but thanks anyway.
  21. this is gunna sound stupid but - have yo tryed the manufactors? one time they had docs and progs free for that sort of thing? this is how i under stand. a PIC has two prong to read the Ibutton (a modified button cell battry connector) a PTM button connected to the pic to "programe" numbers and a relay to activate the lock(standered alarm system = 12 or 24 V). the PIC is programed to read the ibutton chectk the number with an internal list of numbers if the numbers match the relay is activated removing power from the lock allowing the door to open. to program the list the PIC is programed so a Ibutton is put in contact, the button is pressed and the pic rembers the code. This is the professional way of doing it but iff you want a better discription reply.
  22. I need to make a 12>7.5V @3A psu for my PS1 but it needs to be stabalised can anyone help? (Yes its an outdated consol for an outdated car)
