  1. Thanks Harry A. I was really waiting for it. It is great you have book on Designing transformers. I will need help later. But my question is different. To make it easier let me clarify, so that one can understand better. Say you have to design a stepdown transformer. Specifications as under:

Input voltage- 230v, Output volt is 14v @ 650 mA. Core Area is 1.90 cm (tongue width) and 2.00 (stack height)

Now what will be the Primary Turns, Primary Current, Primary wire Gauge.

What will be the Secondary turns and Secondary wire gauge.

What is the Turns per volt.

How to choose wire gauge (enamelled copper wire)

    My calculations says:

    TPV: 12.73, PTurn-2929, STurn-178

    Pri.wire gauge-38/39 swg; Sec.wire gauge-25/26 swg

    Am I right or wrong?

    Please suggest.

  2. In step down transformer is it that Ampere changes in accordance with Turns.

I mean to say that in the Table I found:  38 swg wire has 0.0365 amp @ 200 amp per square cm. and 3507 turns per sq.cm.

If i wind 4000 turns shall I arrive at 0.042 Ampere that means current increases with increase in Turns.

    Raw Formula = (0.0365/3503) x 4000 = 0.0416

Please help am I right. This is required for small step down transformers from 300mA to 1 Amp.

  3. Sir,

    Can anyone help me finding Replacement of Power Transistors;

    2SD613 - NPN , 2SD633 - PNP both complimentary pairs

    2SD600  & 2SB631 both complimentary pairs

The above are used in power amplifier sections of Sonodyne Model SCR2061. The exact transistors not readily available in India.

    Thanks in advance,

    Regards

  4. Sirs,

I need the following Service Manuals. Any help from any angle is highly appreciated. I tried to locate in www.eserviceinfo.com, but failed. Moreover, in the forum also, response very poor. I find this forum very very helpful.

    Herewith remain in anticipation:

    SANYO MC-S680K
    SONY  FH-150R  Home Audio
    National RX-CW55 Two-in-One
    SONY FH-55W        "      "
    SONY CFS-B5S        "      "
    SONY CFS-W365S  "      "

  5. Dear Mr. SVS Sarma,

I am very much thankful to you for the reply. I am at one with you. Accordingly, I have searched everywhere on the pcb or at the backside, but in vain. However, I can tell you that the radio section used the following ICs and I have already downloaded and have with me the datasheet. What i need is the functionality of the whole operations of selector mode switch, which only i can have it on the whole schematic.

The Circuit uses the following ICs in radio section:

    LA 1185 + LA1260
    BA 1332
    Main AF Ampl: uses BA5406

I doubt whether the selector switch (Radio/Tape/Sleep) or band switch (FM/MW/SW1/SW2) has gone bad.

    Are you staying at Banglore?

Please also advise where could I have the same and in which book, as you specified which is available in BPB publications. Since, you also belong to India, can u please help me. However, I am ready to pay for all that.

    Thanks and regards,

    Shamim_India.

  6. Dear Audioguru,

Yes, Sir. I am talking about the tuned ganged capacitor which you have clarified clearly which is 35 pf for 100 MHZ for FM requirement. I was also really expecting reply from you, which I got.

Nowhere in the gang cap. there is any mention about pf. how can we know it is of which type? However, some gang caps. have 4-adjustable nuts on top of it, what are they used for? Is it trimmer (antenna & oscillator)?

    Thanks for the same.

    Regards,
    Shamim_India.

  7. Sirs,

Can any one tell me the Gang parameters required for in the FM receiver set. Can a AM/SW Radio set Gang be used in FM receiver set? Understand AM/SW gang has three terminals. 1st is meant for AM Antenna, 2nd (middle one) ground, 3rd one meant for AM Oscillator.

Any idea on this pls let me know?

    regards,
    Shamim

  8. Sirs,

Can anyone help service manual for the double deck CD Cassette Radio Recorder for SANYO Model: MCD-510K please? CD player malfunctioning and nearly dead. It Optical lense gives up after a while 1 sec. or so. reads table of contents starts playing sometimes, if plays only for a second and then gives up.

Mostly the schematic sites available are paid ones, not free. As I am from India, it is barely impossible to pay and get it at my hand.

    Please help!!!

    Thanks in advance.

    Truly yours,
    Shamim_India.

  9. Sirs,

I wish to have still more simpler db/audio peak level meter which can be interfaced just at the output of of pre-amplifier wired around BC148, which I had seen some years back, but I do not have the Circuit. Any idea pls.? However, I am very thankful to RDL2004, who has guided me properly.

Thanks to Audioguru, who has been always kind to extend help.

Thanks to MP who keeps me updated on immediate response.

    Regards,
    Shamim_India.

  10. Sir,

I hope I have not clarified properly. Now to be clear I state like this:

Like in an analogue multimeter (the needle deflects, in terms of ohms measurement, voltage etc.). So, a dB meter or the so called vu meter is also like that, in which the needle deflects (dancing) in rythms in relation to the speaker sound. For each channel it is there in the front panel top right hand side mounted unto the tape deck.

I hope this time i have clarified you properly. Hope to receive a reply this time.

    With regards,
    shamim
