http://optronik.tripod.com/cgi-bin/loader.pl?pe_catcam.htm heres a fun project that i think could progress a lot if it was added here at electronics lab id like to do it, but i have no idea how to start programming microcontrolers my goal here would be to rework this project to be easier, with just a timer instead of a microcontroller, and add it to the projects here. but first id need some help with timers, becouse i dont know how to do that im going to contact the guy and see what he thinks about this

ha funny story speaking of capacitors, though, couldnt you charge a ceramic capacitor with a 9v so that it is charged up beyond 9vs and then fire? just considering that you dont really want to fire that rapidly. or you could have a couple of capacitors charging up while you werent using it, and when you got into a more vicous battle you would have several shots saved up. and speaking of the vents, wouldnt the explode at much less current if there were no vents? i was thinking you could heatshrink it as far as a more complex and more efficient circuit, i have no idea. but if i thought about it a lot i think i could get the mechanics worked out

okay, im not asking you anymore, but ive tried a 2n4922 (http://www.onsemi.com/pub/Collateral/2N4921-D.PDF) and a 2n6037 http://pdf1.alldatasheet.com/datasheet-pdf/view/21704/STMICROELECTRONICS/2N6037.html and i cant get it to work. i also used: 1k pot 9v battery 1uf 50v electrolytic capacitor 8ohm, probably .5w speaker will all npn transistors work that arent darlingtons?

yaay! i wish i had a lab what transistor did you use? i was thinking of using mj9001 or 9000 or 2n9000 i cant remember, obviously but something from motorola thats one of the round ones, and i think its 40v npn and darlington supposedly used for switching applications do you have any idea if that would work alright? edit i guess ive been rather vague im trying to find the datasheet

ah. i see. well, i might try some anyways, considering i get them all for 75cents at axman ill try any other transistors i can get for cheap there, and update this page with which work. or maybe i could update the project? does anyone know how i might do that? anyways, thanks

thanks! but what about the transistors as far as darlingtons? what does anyone think a darlington npn might change in the output?

i'd like to know a lot of stuff about some of the audio oscillators that are projects here. i thought id just start a general discussion :D to start off, i was wondering about the kind of transistors that can be used for the reverse bias oscillator. -can you use NPN darlingtons? and were can you put a potentiometer or varistor in the circuit to control the frequency? -thanks, quincy

oh, and also, does anyone know anything about the people who designed these amps? would it be helpful to contact them? or do they only speak russian or something?

how do you measure it in speakers? can you just get a bunch of tones in sound files that are completely one frequency? should i try and find some of these? or should i just play notes on a sawtooth synth on my keyboard until the speaker wont play them? and on a different note, how are capacitors used in crossovers to seperate the frequencies? im obviously a bit lost on FR. please help me learn something

i think i understand it now! the signal is transfered into varying amounts of gas in a glass globe, so the flame gets produces more/less heat wich creates a vibration in the air with pure pressure crazy! its supposed to sound really good

i would guess most of you know how normal speakers work, with just a cone and all. but even the weirder ones still have a vibration created with a varying current going through a conductor to create a magnetic field. but i recently came across something that is very different and i have no idea how it works. it has something to do with "plasma arcs" and a finished one has to have a gas supply (?!?!) anyway, heres the link: http://www.plasmatweeter.de/

what does it mean in this circuit when the wire just ends with a dark rectangle? is that ground? i cant find that symbol anywhere.
