  1. Hi. I am planning to build a 2-LED flasher like the light bar on Robocop's Ford Taurus police car. If you'd notice in the movie, the police car has 2 lamps flashing alternately but at a random rate. I'd greatly appreciate your help. Basically, the 1st LED will flash, then after a random number of seconds, the 2nd LED flashes, then after another random number of seconds, the 1st LED will flash again. The process will just repeat. The flash behavior will be the same as a camera's flash. ;D Note: I do not have the knowledge nor the equipment for a programmed version. Please no programming. (* ", *) The circuit will be powered by a 9-12v DC. The LED's are the 3v ultrabright 5mm red and blue. Also, please include the parts list. ;D Thanks a lot.
  2. Hi, Guys. I am planning to make an EL (electroluminescent) project on an outfit to mimic the Tron movie. The thing is, I am afraid to build an inverter. I have quite a lengthy EL wire and I would only need a few. The remaining wire would be used for other projects. The question is: could a bug zapper racket circuit be used to power the EL wire? If the bug zapper racket is too powerful for the wire, is there a way to reduce its power output? Or is there a possibility to directly connect the wire to a DC source? Thanks in advance. :D
  3. One more thing, I would also want to do a 150-pc. LED dimmer...
  4. Hi guys, It's been a while... I have been trying to build a 300-pc. LED lighting unit... It's a simple project consisting of 300 pieces of 5mm superbright white LED's... I was able to make them light up using 4 pcs. of AA NiMH batteries, which then I switched to an 8-pc. AA power source for prolonged sustained output... What put me to a halt is the question of how to make them dim altogether... I heard about potentiometers but I don't know how to use them, I mean would I still need the resistor for each LED??? One more thing... Since the potentiometer has 3 pins, which one will I connect to either + or - leg of the LED??? It would be best if you could provide me a diagram and parts listing, especially the potentiometer or any dimming piece... By the way, I don't have access to any chip-programming device so basically I am doing an non-programming project... I plan to use 8-10 pcs. of AA NiMH batteries as power source or a 12v AC-DC converter... Your help is very much appreciated...
  5. Hi, I play R/C cars as a hobby, particularly R/C drifting... it's been months since I have been experimenting how to make artificial smoke to make my car more realistic while running... This forum provided me great assistance building light units for my R/C cars... This time, after running out of ideas and resources, I hope this forum would be able to assist me again... Basically, I want to build a miniature smoke machine to equip my radio-controlled car... it will be powered by a 9v battery... I will be using a liquid smoke (smoke oil) that will be heated to produce the smoke... Please refer to this link: Abbots Model Engineering, Magpie Computer Developments Ltd The "Smoking Mk III" is better... they claim that it is powered by a 9v battery, which is feasible since the device is used in toy trains... I hope someone would be able to help me build the machine... or at least a heating element that can be powered by a 9v battery...
