Hi Bonanz, Grounding the -5V will not work on this project or on any other that uses the ICL7107. Believe me, I've tried it, it just causes a blank display. The Maxim website specifies that only the ICL7106 can be used like this if you only want to measure positive voltages. The ICL7106 by the way is the twin brother to the 7107 but is used for driving a LCD display.
