  1. yep your right, we use PowerLine Technology giving two way communication with the meter, (ideal for turning off non-payment consumers as the meter comes with an internal relay) it also eradicates the need for meter readers! Also the Smart meter has a remote battery powered readout which the consumer can place on a well etc and monitor their KWh usage. Other suppliers have opted for Blue tooth and RF smart meters where some unfortunate guy spends all day driving round automatically uploading the meter readings. Big problem we have found is the loss of monthly KWh consumption when the "guaranteed for life" meters brake!!!
  2. Hello, First of all im an electrician not an electronics person, so please be understanding!!!! :'( I'm trying to help my son out on a project he wants to do, and to be honest if its not 230V im lost!!! The idea is a remote control (ie the garage fob key type) that can operate a small battery operated beeper to drive his school friends mad for the science fair. I've (we) have tried buying RF receivers to use with our spare garage fob but to be honest I havent a clue!, does any one have some advise (please dont say get a clever dad) or info on a similar project? Thanks 8)
