  5. You could put a light weight spring in there to stop the bounce. Anoyher way to replace the switch is with a magnetic reed switch. A flow switch has a magnet in it and when you tilt the switch it will activate the reed switch.
  6. Okay, here is my solution. A sump pump has a switch that will make contact when it is up or down depending on the position of the contacts. They are no longer leagal to use Mercury in them. They came up with a simple solution. They have a ball bearing that rolls into a switch like they described in one of the previous reply. The whole assembly is inside of a plastic ball that floats on top of the water. The wire is tied to a pipe so it will move only up and down. When the water level drops to a set level the ball bearing rolls down and pushes on the switch, The key here is to use a ball bearing that is heavy enough to activate the switch but not heavey enough to break it when it rolls. Another way is to use the following diagram instead.

  10. Let's compare a Capacitor to something Common say a Water Filter in a Swimming Pool. As the flow of water goes into the filter it is slowed down by the filter cartridge. The Water Flow is like Current in electricity and the Water Pressure is like Voltage. The speed at which it is slowed down depends on how many microns the filter is. The filter also removes unwanted impurities in the water . The unwanted impurities in Electricity are voltage spikes, unwanted AC voltages. Ect.The amount it removes also depends on the microns of the filter. If the holes in the filter are big then the water will not come out as clean. With a Capacitor the bigger holes are a lower microfarad. So a larger microfarad would be the same as a finer Micron Filter cartridge in the Pool Filter. In the pool filter the smaller the holes are the higher the pump pressure remains., The same can be said about a Capacitor. The voltage will stay higher for a longer time with a large capacitor.

  12. I made something like this once. Here is how I did it. I bought a Tape that goes into an answering machine. It was a tape that has an endless loop. The one for the Greeting Message. I recorded my message with the answering machine. Then I installed a 12v car tape player under the dash board. I hooked the hot side to my Headlight switch and the negitive to the Dome light switch. When ever I opened the door with the headlights on it told me" You left your headlights on!" in my own voice.
  13. You could get someone who knows about electronics to build it for you and take the credit!
  14. Look at this one too! If you set the first one for 2 seconds then the incroments will be 2,4,6,8,10,12,14,16,18,20. If you only use the 2 thru 12 settings You will have the first step of your request filled. As for the other step just change the value of C1 so it is a 15 second interval instead of 1 min. My guess would be between 47uF to 100uF. (You must tie the unused outputs to ground because they will pick up stray signals and cause erratic operation and cause excessive power consumption.)
  15. Here is a nice little Circuit I found in a book.

  17. I haven't built this yet. I am working on the design with help from people like you. I am thinking about 2N2222 or 2N2222a. As for the Transformer I am thinking about a Toroid hand built transformer with a center tap secondary for a split power supply = + 40v
  18. I found my original drawing with better resolution and modified it. Here is my new working diagram. This circuit has not been tested yet it is a concept drawing for R&D purposes.
  19. Can you combine posts that are simular in nature? How can we narrow this down? Can we maybe create a seperate section for Power supplies and DC DC Converters and Inverters for open discussion? There seams to be alot of Interest in all of these areas. Also we need an area where Administrators and Moderators can talk privately or have an area where we can send private messages to each other.
  20. For the sake of this discussion you may want to read this info: http://www.qsl.net/xq2fod/Electron/Ps20/Ps20.html
  21. The problem with this design is Current handling capability. The project you are looking at is only about 5 amps and a 100 watt Amplifier needs about 20 amps. You should make sure the transformer is 20 amps or better and use about 8 of the 2N3055 transistors 4 and 4 hooking three in parallel with each original. Also see my post on the subject. http://www.electronics-lab.com/forum/index.php?board=22;action=display;threadid=222
