audio guru they have torches out and they use these super bright leds that shine a white light , do you think they will phase out the 6 volts torch globes for these, just emagine no tungston ellement globes just white leds. i have a blue led , exspensive but it shines out a light thats white and llights up the wall like a torch

:)audio guru and virus hello there audio guru ive see that site , remember ive serched every site on the net, and voltage labs will be back up soon to so i can serch for new ideas etc etc, but you might want to check out the hutchinsen effect, if ive spelt it right its not just the high voltage that intrests me , its the unknown things you can do with it if you get it right, if you do find that site take note of the details of what happens when he fired up all his high voltage stuff at once , and the bizzare happens,

look through the forums for the topic mini emp box schematics or circuits that may help if it dose

thankyou virus , this site is the best and even though it dont have any tesla coil stuff in it yet im working on it , and hopefully intergrate a hendershot basket weave coil into it for a primary and , its a cool idea to try something different for a change

:)that inductor on the pcb board is allso from the small prototype to the flyback is not wired up yet but im sure you can use one with inbiult trippler in its place

i was given a flyback driver and bottle capacitors , which was used to power a solid state tesla coil, if ive got it right now the flyback driver uses 2 irfp460a mosfets, a push pull oscilator type circuit i think it is , anyhow i designed a printed circuit board for this and put new parts on it and used the 2 super fast diodes off the prototype given to me so all i have to do is put 2 protection diodes for the mosfets on the new board, even though they have biult in diodes for this, ive been told there not to good . now the disc shaped flyback with the prototype given to me has to be conected to the new pcb version here and the disc shaped flyback has the primary wounded onto the core opiste the secondary and has i think 8 turns and taped at so many , so ive been told to exsperiment with the primary turns and the cap that goes across it which in the actual circuit on the net is 0.68uf 250 volts so i put one in here are the pictures of the uncomplete printed circuit board version of this flyback driver . now the prototype given to me with a few bottle caps was used to power a solid state tesla coil so this will be an exsperiment worth trying , after i get some better bottles with flat bottoms and make some modifications and wind a decent tesla primary with wire so thin that i may as well hire a spider to weave it on for me

:)be carefull when selecting the 1m resister here as they look like a 10m resister unless you look at it under a bright light to see the colour band properly as the blue band in a 10m resister looks almost like the green band in the 1m resister

here is the printed circuit version of the simple n channel mosfet tester and it will even test the large irfp460 mosfets to with ease
-
heres a printed circuit board for the high voltage flyback driver circuit for the next high voltage capacitor charger, i just have to wire up the pots and the timer which runs to the main board from the timer socket board

:)the dc voltage input is about 10 volts 300ma to 12 volts. i have yet to install some aligater clips on the test leads or some push clips

here is a printed circuit board version of my scr tester, that ive made today since ive got myself a printed circuit board kit from dicksmiths electronics

Ignition coil driver circuits and experiments
steven replied to steven's topic in High Voltage Stuff
with the help of an electronic prototype board and a peace of plastic from the lid of a cd cover i was able to make an electronic component leg spacer drawing tool so that when i did the printed circuit drawing for the ignition coil driver i just used this plastic leg spacer gauge for drawing the components down so that when i do the printed circuit onto the coper board all component legs are spaced apart the right distance , so that when the boards done and i drill out the holes for the component legs and put in a component to solder, say a resister they fit perfectly , this idea eliminates the need to do ruler measurements just to get the holes the right distance apart for the component legs to fit through, ill upload the detailes for this handy peace of tool soon , now the capacitors on the ignition coil driver they are 0.1uf green caps marked as 104 and after that is the letter j for %5 . there are different coloured green caps marked as 104 and has the letter k , thats 10%, im not really sure but i think the performance of the ignition coil driver with the 104 j caps are better than that with the caps marked as 104 k for 10% -

;)heres a printed circuit board i just made for the ignition coil driver the ic is somewhere else and the wires to it run from pins on the printed circuit board same for the 2n3055 npn power transister -
ive had a few microwave oven transformers , that i never used and the core itself is active return negative , now i was once told how to determine the outputs of a transformer and it worked so you may be able to do the same , with a multimeter set to low ohms and if you get a reading you have the secondarys ,

Ignition coil driver circuits and experiments
steven replied to steven's topic in High Voltage Stuff
:)audo guru i get big enougth arcs when i wire them in parralell but what do you mean by opisite phase im not that familiar with that term yet. hey the voltage from the driver circuit to the coil is one thing you wait till i push a charged up cap through it like i once did with my old modified camera flash unit i added to diodes and took out the photo flash cap and put in a 350 volts 47 uf electro and charged that up and with the push of a button i discharged that into it and that was one coil at the time and even though ive ran a parralell coil of the driver and even did 3 i will biuld another ignition coil driver cap charger and do it that way charge the cap up a higher voltage and value and throw that though it for bigger arcs if possible so 2 copils in parralell would be intresting i can top those coils up some more with oil if need be i have spare coil oil around so this would be intresting to try -

:)with the parralell coils i have 2 or 3 arcs but the first hv out on the first coil to the second hv out are the bigest arcs if you space the first hv out electrode far enougth apart now i dont know if its nessisary but here is a mini spark gap just in case, -
Ignition coil driver circuits and experiments
steven replied to steven's topic in High Voltage Stuff
:)the ignition coil driver dose have some good uses in exsperimenting with arcs and since ive come up with the simple capacitor charger in the other topic for chargeing capacitors up with by the use of the ignition coil with its ignition coil driver circuit , here is a recreation of one of my parralell ignition coil setups , i just have to put in the negative return wire electrode, these really crank out some great arcs but even better i once used a single ignition coil and i charged a cap up and dumped it into the coil and got better arcs from it, you may be able or should be able to do the same with the parralell ignition coil set up. so ill biuld another high voltage photo flash cap charger and include the coils so just switch it on to charge up and select object or pesty critter to be zapped then when ya charged the cap up just push a button and dump that charged cap into the parralell coils and fry that critter , like in the case of pesky skunks , the parralell coils ive made 2 ignition coil holders from pvc pipes for them so just run it off the simple ignition coil driver i even ran 3 coils in parralell of the same driver once -

:)hhey raptor2021 yes you can use an ignition coil for cap chargeing view the latest posts to the topic high voltage photo flash cap chargers youll see it there -
:)i use that circuit maker to, the free student version down load one and there are features you can use in it that that it dosent seem to really admit it and when i emailed myself a copy the email came back ok but the extra features dident come in with my email so they are lost so just print it out with the features and take a pic of it and then email it and it will arrive as drawn with thoses extra features and nothing wont be lost , like i draw intergrated circuits in there proper shape useing the trax drawing tool then i use the trytanmgle thing for ya words i forgot the name of it and i do my numbers 1 at a time then useing the mouse i drag the individual numbers into the ic pin leg s to number them from 1 to 8 so the things you can do with circuit maker that aint in the thing is awesome

Need help deciding on a multimeter
steven replied to ImperialGuardWH40K's topic in Electronics chit chat
:)at times like that it would pay to save your dollers and get a multimeter that will be ok like digital multimeter and if it has continiuity checker and transister tester to or even a thermal probe and high impeadence would be my choice
