in these pictures are a simple modified power supply to power a keychain laser with. now the keychain laser takes about 3x button cell batteries and , if i was to power it from just a plain battery the laser will have a short life span so the idea was to measure the 3 buttoin cells battery voltage and try get as close to as i can with the same voltage so to start with i used a simple 5 volts output regulator circuit and with a bit of exsperimenting i was able to get 4.66 volts output of which seemed to work ok at powering the laser with . at the positive output i solderd a 1n4148 diode and after that a ten ohms resister so thats how i got the 4.66 volts output so the diode and resister helped to reduce the voltage and or current output from the regulator circuit now the keychain laser i dident have to dismantle like ive done before as the tiny board at the front has a small flatt peace on it and it has a tiny wire from it thats solderd to the main board so if that tiny wire burns off, if i power it with the wrong voltage , and then that tiny board will fall off. the laser is so tiny you cant see it it must be sandwhiched into the board so you think its not there , now by removeing the battery cap end by screwing it off, inside is a thin circular plastic insulator and the spring which the bottom of the batteries sit on now with a insulated crockadile clip with a wire solder to it i sqeeze it open and insert it into the opened battery end where the batteries normally go in , and i clip it onto the spring so thats one terminal supply and for the other well you cant use the keychain laser body so you strip a wire and wind it around the removable head that has a lense in it that goes into the front of the keychain laser and tape it to it or wind the wire around the inner section where the lense cap is pushed onto so thats the second terminal now the keychain laser has a great long range and i can piont the laser light all the way down the road and through the windows of a block of units and onto the wall and further if i dident have any biuldings in the way, now thats just the laser powerd by the simple modified 5 volts output circuit, from a 9 volts battery and the receaver for the laser is a light activated or vise versa circuit which is in another topic in the forums somewhere called fairchild photo transistor data, which has the circuit to use as a receaver, now this receaver as ill call it responds to laser light more better than sunlight and infrared so i can trigger the light activated relay from a long distance away useing the keychain laser, now the idea of these 2 circuits is to make a long range laser break beam detection circuit that can be triggerd if something or someone walks through the laser and the relay in the light activated relay circuit will be triggerd thus switching on a long range fm transmitter or alarm so this i plan to improve it and would come in handy for detecting the american bigfoot or the australian version, the yowie , ,is why ive been working on this and to compensate for false triggering by smaller animals a second laser is spaced from the first and at a distance a second light activated relay circuit , now to do some long range laser to reaceaver alignment can be done with a peace of white cardboard

thankyou ante i think i could make an infrared remote controll hv circuit this simple idea i tried first with my photoflash tubes and a transformer in rewverse mode and a 12 volts battery and the light activated relay i posted in the fairchild photo transister topic now with the infrared remote from tv or video will make the relay of the light activated relay circuit open and close so fast from the infrared pulses it would create arcs through the photo flash tubes , i could do the same with a car ingnition coil to and ive got a high voltage trippler that will really crank up the arcs. and without the light activated circuit to deliver the volts into transformer i can use a simple sound activated switch so it could be done that way, a sound operated hv circuit
-
ante ive got my second high voltage photo flash capacitor charger to fiinish yet , and ive got one more hv trippler left and if i biuld another high voltage output ignition coil driver ill include the trippler and hopefully one of my 2 high voltage resister deviders, allso ive been collecting more circuits that could be used for listening to yowies, the australian version of the american bigfoot , and dispite putting my hydrogen generator exsperiments on hold for a while i plant to get back to it and hopefully power it with the hv cap charger

hotwater wizard thankyou i never really knew for sure this was your forum but anyhow john thanks pal
-
great to hear from you ante im well aware of the dangers of the larger electro capcitors especially those large photo flash capacitors , i can emagine the size of the camera they came from ha ha ha just kidding, most of my capacitors used to be in my upstairs cubboard when it used to get hot so i hope they still work ok i was told they could be zapped back to life, and that when your breaking them in to charge them at a lower voltage than there voltage rateing and slowly work it up, anyhow its a ruch here as i work on other ideas so the caps will wait ,

hey if mp could put your clearer picture of the circuit in and delete my aged old one it would be better. disregard my spelling error hotwater wizard i was referring to the age of my circuit not me head ha ha
-
thanks hotwater wizzard i think that i may of accidently uploaded may 2 of the same pics but if one is clearer then ill let mp dlete the other as 1 may be all we need, the resoulution of the circuit you uploaded came out better than my one did due to the age of my one nut thankss anyhow john

wwith a bit of improviseing and some more exsperiments heres some capacitors i may be able to charge up with the same circuit
-
heres a closer picture of the circuit and the laser from the keychain laser. In these pictures is the light activated

Ignition coil driver circuits and experiments
steven replied to steven's topic in High Voltage Stuff
:)hey raptor2021 this needs more exsperimenting , now if you havent seen my posting in the high voltage stuff section, of the high voltage photo flash capacitor charger,. it uses a disc shaped flyback transformer , without the biult in high voltage trippler , now i tried an ignition coil before useing an ignition coil driver circuit , and the same parts i used for the high voltage photo flash capacitor charger, but somehow it dident work with the ignition coil driven by the driver circuit , but if you look on the net there was a cheap coil gun that uses the photo flash capacitor charger from a camera and it had a few photo flash capacitors in parralell i think it was and that looked ok , so it would be easyer to biuld the version i biult, that uses a flyback transformer driver circuit and use that to charge a few capacitors in parralell then use that.. the disc shaped flyback and ignition coil both put out ac when driven by the driver circuits but i think it may of been the frenquency they were driven at may be the unkown facter as to why the flyback can be used and not the ignition coil , so ill try something else next time and if it works ill let you know , it would be great to have a high voltage capacitor charger useing an ignition coil ,as the 2n3055 npn power tranny would last longer that the n channel mosfet i use, because there so static sensitive they get damaged easy , so ill try when i get around to it, and this time ill use some of the parts i use in the high voltage photo flash cap charger driver circuit this time and see how it goes then -
:)hey daza that looks good i allso have the plans from the internet to biuld these nu yours is larger by the looks of it, im impressed at how neat your construction work is , i once thought it would be a good idea to biuld something similiar but useing magnets in an oposeing way against each other like a perpetual motion machine but i think its a long way off till i test this idea i have. , i take it youve herd of the liuqiud piston pump it runs off the heat of sunlight like your stirling angine runs off the heat from a candle

:)hey dazza if you tick the box to notify you of any replies to your topic or the topic you are watching you will get an email if someone replies to that topic, and allso if you reply to the reply of that topic you will still receave an email to

:)hey alun what a world we live in , do you think that if we exspand our technology so much we would destroy our selfs, as the awsome electromagnetic smogf will play havoc with everything electrical on earth, i saw a storey on the news years ago about the electromagnetic smog from a large us navy fleet was interfearing with the elctronics of some of there own hellicopters
-
:) very intresting , if someone replies to topics i posted agers ago i would still get the notifiocations as i allowed it by clicking on the box allowing me to receave emails of replies to these topics , the sitiuation allso reminds me of some information i once read about signals on the internet comeing from out of space , so it makes me wonder who is out there watching us and viewing our postings

:) alun this sounds really advanced, and the time and money involved in makeing a robot with all these features , is awsome , the japeneese are really good with robots but if you want it to look humen you may want to design it to look like humen , start by studying a model of the humen skeleton then intergrate your machanics and electronics into it and servos and all the things you need to make it move like a humen being , .

hi there my multimeters continiuity tester reacts to so many ohms resistance to before the audio sound comes on, and it wont do it for to high of a resistance , thats why its good for checking the continiuity of track work and wire, and not for components

sometimes you find a good circuit and yop spend hours biulding it only to sometimes find it has a erorr in it so you waste a prototype board doing it, then you have to strip it all down a try again. so you use a bread board and sometimes you dont have enougth room so you can use another breadboard conected for the exstra room , i find that if you biuld it all so cramed onto a little bread board then its very difficult trying to follow your wireing so spaceing it all out makes it a bit easyer, then once you know it works ok then you design the printed circcuit board for it
