  1. Audioguru, Congratulations, you found a key combination that worked! Well then there is no reason to upgrade yet! ;D Tube scope? I hade one of those 20 years ago and it was old then! It was a Trio Advance scope it weighed about 25 kilos or so. Ante ::)

  4. Darrin, The screw suggested by John can be highly accurate if you use a stepper motor to pull it. Then you can decide a number of steps for a dose and there will be no influences from the motors speed that can be the case with a timer. Just a thought! Ante ::)

  7. Darrin, For a start: Do you know the power consumption for the flexible heating element? A 4A triac on 230VAC (if this is your voltage) will limit the power to about 900W. For efficiency and ease of interfacing to temperature measuring circuit I suggest you look at the MOC3041 or MOC3061. The datasheet http://vitsch.net/datasheets/mov3041_optoisolator_triac_driver.pdf or http://www.fairchildsemi.com/ds/MO/MOC3163-M.pdf will give you info on snubbers for triac circuits. This Zero-Cross Phototriac Driver Optocoupler will galvanic separate the mains from the rest of your circuit and make it simple to connect the rest of the circuit. Ante ::)

  10. Audioguru, You can use the Prt Sc (print screen) to copy from any document and just paste it in paint, cut it to size and you are done! Try it! The circuits is almost the same, I like to have the protection diode in there also. The value of R1 is not very important but if you use higher value there is no need to cool the regulator.   12. Audioguru, After checking my sketch again I discovered one mistake, I forgot to connect the collector with the VO of the regulator. Concerning the rest of the circuit I stand firmly! Posting the correct drawing here. I think a PNP transistor must have higher voltage on the emitter than on the base to be able to conduct. This is what I have learned as the forward biasing of the emitter base diode. But it was a long time since I was in school so things can be different now I am not sure. Ante ::)

  18. Jeff, Welcome to this community. Something similar happened to me with a projector, not the same brand but anyway. I found out that the problem was the cable from my laptop to the projector that was faulty. I hope this helps. Ante ::)
  19. coder, The battery voltage (12.7V-5V) * 1.3A = 10W of heat, this needs a good heatsink. I hope you are aware that this circuit have no over current protection! I recommend you to make a modification to be safe. Like this: Ante ::)
