  1. Hi rod, Accessing from the inside of what, the engine or the car?
  2. To power the timer a small PP-3 and a low drop regulator like L4940 or similar would be fine, this will keep the timer run exactly right each time. Here are a few examples on CD4060 circuits, of which some are very well explained: http://www.circuitsonline.net/circuits/view/106 http://www.doctronics.co.uk/gt_1.htm http://uk.geocities.com/ronj_1217/al1/24t.html http://www.hometoys.com/tips/tips18.htm http://users.otenet.gr/~athsam/timer_with_buzzer_and_optocupler.htm http://www.zen22142.zen.co.uk/Circuits/Timing/ivt.htm http://www.ieee-rgit.com/viewproject.php?id=2&PHPSESSID=fab893c4e61ebfc9fec74a12f6fd5cba ;)
  3. Hi AG, Yes I too have some doubts about this circuit. The size and the characteristics of the piezo will be important for the sensitivity.
  4. So we are talking a 7.0 or higher on the Richter scale here? ;)
  5. Hi MP, Thanks, Herman: Not important what kind you use as long as you can post it here!
  6. Hi Mooncat, Is it dead or does the discharge part still work? Do you have a schematic to post? Some pictures of the internals perhaps? Have you checked for fuses (might be soldered to the PCB)? Have you measured the temp switch inside the battery for open circuit?
  7. Hi MP, Here it is: http://www.electronics-lab.com/projects/science/004/index.html
  8. Hi Doc, Those might keep you busy and out of trouble for a while! ;D Thanks NanOp ! ;)
  9. Hi raj, What kind of references material do you need? A circuit, test results or other?
  10. Hi Jim, So, we are talking battery powered and spark free!? ;D I suggest a CD4060, LEDs, a piezo beeper a three way switch and a few small parts in a sealed box.
  11. Well, I would go to the store where I bought it and tell them to put it where the sun doesn’t shine, because that’s where the crap should be! Then I’d find me a quality player at another store! 8)
  12. If I got it right here you need less than 500mA and this should be fine with almost no heatsink at all. If you fit it in a metal box just bolt it to the box and you’ll be fine. The tab of the MXL1074CT-SL is common ground so you don’t need any insulation for it if you don’t want to. (I presume your bike has negative ground connected to the frame)!?
  13. Hi Herman, Welcome to our forum, We need to see the schematic to be able to help you. Can you please post it or supply a link to it?
  14. Hi Shahriar, Why not buy one, they are not very expensive? http://shop.conrad.se/cgi/websale6.cgi?Ctx=%7bver%2f6%2fver%7d%7bst%2f3eb%2fst%7d%7bcmd%2f0%2fcmd%7d%7bm%2fwebsale%2fm%7d%7bs%2fconrad%2dschweden%2fs%7d%7bl%2f01%2daa%2fl%7d%7bctx%2fffbcd3b2%2fctx%7d%7bmi%2f000355%2fmi%7d%7bpi%2f%2e%2e671157%2e%2e%2fpi%7d%7bpo%2f1%2fpo%7d%7btpl%2fhead%2ehtm%2ftpl%7d%7bsf%2f%3cs1%3esv%e4vande%20jordglob%3c%2fs1%3e%3cs2%3e%24%241%3c%2fs2%3e%2fsf%7d%7bmd5%2fb92489bd2b990446ddddfb1095826ede%2fmd5%7d It’s less than 14€.
  15. Hi Jordan, There are two possibilities here; one is that this is a crappy player (I have seen others also struggling with diverse problems with this model). Second; the installation is poorly done (unless the car harness has some flaw)!
  16. Woops! :-[ The MXL1074CT-SL is available as sample and works the same way as the MAX724-26 (max 2A). ;)
  17. If a power supply fails you either lose the power or getting the wrong voltage. The need for failure alarm or a backup system depends very much on the use. A life support system needs a backup but for a less important power supply it might be enough with a failure alarm.
  18. Hi Jim, Welcome to our forum. You have to reveal a little more about your invention so we are able to help you! What I mean is we need to know something about the voltages and how much power (Watts) you like to control.
  19. Here is another possible solution: http://datasheets.maxim-ic.com/en/ds/MAX724-MAX726.pdf High current, high efficiency, no heatsink, low part count, free samples and no fuzz! ;)
