metal Posted October 29, 2003 Report Share Posted October 29, 2003 Hi ;)The chassis may be connected to the tape head wire shielding ,so when you touch it the speakers start humming,because you form a source of 50Hz or 60Hz mains hum as you being human,and affected by electromagnetics,as antennas are,just to make the image closer. mozikluv Posted November 7, 2003 Report Share Posted November 7, 2003 :)hi there,you mentioned you used ceramic caps, try replacing those with mylars or polypropylene caps.there are several sources of hum in an amplifier, 1. poor grounding connection2. defective capacitors3. inadequate power supply filter4. poor ground line lay-out5. ground line loop6. external input humQuest. 1. on a stand alone, meaning no signal input, do you hear any hum from your amp?Quest. 2. does your input ground share the same line with your power line ground?
