proportional temperature controller

Recommended Posts

I am trying to build a temerature controller to control 240VAC at 10-20 amps. It should control using proportional current to a resistive heater element to maintain a temperature (set between 50 and 300 degrees celsius). Please Help! :-[

I think we need more information. You know a continuous 240 VAC at 20 amps is 4.8 Kilowatts don't you? You could burn down your house with this much power dissipation. Be careful.

Thanks for the consideration. The power consumption was a high estimate. The load will be an oven element in a steel thermally insulated oven.
If i can get a circuit for the controller i will use it for most projects that are a much lower power loading, eg 2.4KW.
Thanks for your reply.
Cheers.
