SD-1700A 6746 transistor replacement needed

I need a SD-1700A 6746 transistor or datasheet for it.
It has a logo on it that is a capital "S" unpainted inside a black block.
It is part of the regulation circuit for a bench supply. I have been trying to find information on it to get a replacement or comparable
component. If anyone has information on this please post here.
I will be keeping an eye on this thread.

I should mention this thing is 20-30yrs old

No that is not it.
it was either the collector or the emmiter that doesn't have an actual pin, its connection is the case. It is round kinda like a button with two mounting points stuck out on each side. I can't remember the name for these transistors. Ring a bell to anyone?
