ante
This is an example of construction design. What do you think, is this cool or just stupid and dangerous or is it perhaps art? Would you consider building a project along these lines? 8)
Guest Yevgenip
Did you make this? What does it do?
ante
No, it
Guest Yevgenip
Well, looks like someone has a PCBphobia! ;DYeah, I guess it looks like art. I don't know if it does something, looks like a counter: Perhaps you could try capture it?
EnigmaOne
I've built some pretty bad looking projects in my day, but nothing on this kind of scale.I'm opting for a low-precision digital thermometer myself--given the mix of what looks like RCA cans in there. A vintage circuit to be sure.I can go for leaning in the direction of art. It would look kind of cool, and a bit more stable, encapsulated in good-quality resin.Only after seeing this, have I come up with some similar ideas that would make my wife roll her eyes. I could probably be talked into something like that. ;)
Dazza
Well my first thoughts were, what a monstrosity :o. But then I realised it appears that every component there has a function, I can't help to be impressed 8). Although I do feel a kookaburra would have been a better component choice, its performance is far more superior then a Peacock, for a laugh ;D ;D ;D. Guest Alun
Well as far as safety is concerned it's not too dangerous either, I assume no live parts are exposed on the mains side or the transformer and as the secondary is fused. I can't see any risk of shock or fire.Look at this for an interesting audio oscillator construction. ;Dhttp://www.techlib.com/electronics/audiooscillators.htm
ante
Hi Alun,For safety I would like to add: Don
Guest Yevgenip
Yeah, but I have a feelling it won't reach mass production. ;D
Guest Kasamiko
Very hazardous to your eyes!!There's a danger of pricking it!! 8) wear this when working on it too.. ;Drhonn ;) ;)
GreekPIC
OMG, it's fantastic! I want to make something like this. Maybe an FM receiver in a transparent cover.
EdwardM
Hi Alldoesn't look too dissimilar to a standard first try HF air-wire found in most electronics labs, minus the bird of course ;DEd
EdwardM
Hi AllIf slightly off topic, sorry :-[Because air-wire construction is fast and fun, perhaps we might like a photo competition, not forgetting upload limts, of working circuits built this way? What do you think?Ed
ante
Hi Ed,Maybe you have a contribution somewhere on a shelf…. Post a picture for us, please. ;D
EdwardM
Hi Antetoo embarassing, thats my normal standard of construction. Next time I build one I'll try to remember to post!Ed

Guest Alun
Not too long ago I built a VHF oscilator like this because I couldn't get the damn thing to work on veroboard. ;D

ante
Hi Chris,It’s from the cover of a book but I can’t remember which book unfortunately! Maybe someone else knows which book it is?It looks like it could be out of your homepage though! ;)B T W you must be a millionaire selling penny's for dollars! ;D ;D
rybitski
Actually, The only thing I have ever sold are those the pcb keychains and that wasn't even through my website. :( Although they were a big hit at my HIgh school. 8)That particular copper sculpture is something I made for my girlfriend... Ok, I'll admit, half of those things on the website I made for my girl friend... It was a little idea I had to market them on the internet, so far no luck. I guess I'm not appealing to the right demographic ??? YOu wouldn't know anything about marketing would you Ante? ;)
