amplifier audio/video

Hi Dragon,
Welcome to our forum.
My car came equipped with crappy little 20 ohm full-range speakers. When I replaced them with two-way 4 ohm speakers with real big magnets the sound quality improvement was enormous!

Most home speakers are 8 ohms and car speakers are 4 ohms. Full-range speakers are lousy, you need a woofer for low frequencies and tweeter or mid-range plus tweeter for higher frequencies.

Of course we can't recommend an amp for your speakers unless you tell us their power rating, how many of the 20 ohm speakers you will have in parallel and what supply voltage (only 12V in a car?) you can use.  ;D

Some car audio systems are built so bad that they will not power better speakers very well. In such a case an additional power amp is needed or you have some volume loss. Changing to a lower impedance speaker will always add volume and in many cases, better sound quality unless it is so much additional amplification that the speakers are clipping. But beware that changing the output impedance on some stereo designs can cause a meltdown.
