voice activated door locking system

How much experiance do you have?

This would be a microcontroler project that'd require specialist software and not for newbs.

Edit:
Your best bet would be to use a PC with speech recognition software and use it to control a lock via RS232 or something.

hi alun!
even a pentium processor would do the job for him.ultimately that is also a controller!  he may write a program to send a data to a parallel port and  send back some data from the card to PC. some programming in C would be a required.somewhat similar to a hardware lock.anyhow alun,do u have any idea for sending data from a card to a PC port so that i can use inport command to read that data?
do we need a controller in that too.

Your best bet is to use some pre-written speech recognition software rather than atempting o write your own. I would recommend something opensource if possible as you could modify it to suit your needs, embedded Linux might be a the most suitable operating system to use for the same reason..

Check out the google search results for open source speech recognition software.

well thanks about the idea uy had given but what  i wanted is a circuit that activated on a voice which is not required to be protected, just any one can open it with the magic word, and more over i can't use anything commericial stuffs like voice rocognition chips except microcontroller or some other chips that  cant be fabriacated on ourself, so what i want is that a basic voice activated door opener that can allow any one who says the magic word and no more fancy things

thanks

I sorry but this project isn't possible without useing a fairly powerfull computer, an old PC running speech recognition software as I suggested before is the only realistic solution. Old PCs are very cheap and it's fairly easy to incorperate the motherboard along with the hard disc and power supply into your project.

What power source do you have availible?

An old Laptop might eve be a good idea even if the display is faulty (a common thing with old laptops) you coulds set it up with it connected to a normal monitor and then dissonnect when embedded into the project.

Speech recognition requires considerable processing power something that cheap small microcontrollers don't give you, a PC is the only cost effective solution in my opinion.

Hi Samartha,
Are you allowed to cheat a little?

Someone goes to the door and says, "O-pen or Un-lock".
Then at the end of the day they say, "Close or Lock".

Two syllables unlocks it and one syllable locks it. The circuit will recognise nearly everyone's voice and would be very simple if you want. The simplest would be for it to lock on the 1st syllable then unlock on the 2nd. You could even train a dog or monkey to control it.
If your teacher says your'e cheating, tell him that your speech recognition isn't perfect but it works. ;D

Dear shri_sam

It is Impossible To do the project with a microcontroller if you are not a A Professional Programmer. Also you need some information about DSP.

Any way. I have seen the same project that one of my friends did. he used An ActiveX in Visual Basic which would take some word from the user and when ou repeat that word in PC microphone it would show that word to U. but it had some Error too. then you can open the door via parrallel port or serial port.  You can find so many such free ActiveXs in internet.

I Also beleive that it would be easier to use VB, Delphie or VC to do your project instead of C++.

thanks Shahriar

but i have found on the net some one has done the same project by using
H-Bridge Motor Controller
SN74LS86 Quad 2-Input Exclusive OR Gate
SR-07 Speech Recognition Circuit
SRI-02 Speech Recognition Interface Circuit
LM555 Precision Timer - 8 Pin DIP

so these combination of the ckt works n also i guess that he havent used any programming language so i  am little confuse about it

So this speech recognition circuit must be an IC or module with a microprocessor running speech recognition software.

This all sounds very interesting to me, where can you buy this from?

What are the power supply requirements?

Are you sure you don't need any other components other than the ones you've listed?
