prateeksikka
hi all!i wish to know what is the demarkation line between electrical and electronics engineering?i.e to decide whether an application is a subject matter of electrical or electronics engineering? ante
Hi prateek,I think I would draw the line between circuits including active semiconductors and circuits with no active semiconductors! As an example I consider a rectifier bridge or a diode as non active semi! But that's just me! 8)
Guest Alun
Electronics is fairly low powerd non-power supply type circuits, examples include audio amplifiers, radios, computers, small low voltage power supplies.Electrical is power distribution and high power systems, examples include UPSs the mains power distribution system (national grid) large motor controll systems large transformers, generators.Normally nowadays a knowledge of both areas is required in most jobs, for example a large UPS uses small electronic controll circuits and a large battery, transformer and electrical protection system on the output. I've studied mostly electronics, followed by electrical and then mechanical subjects, all of them have been relevant to lots of the jobs I've done. ante
Hi Alun,Don’t forget: You will need chemical knowledge too for the battery! ;D
prateeksikka
even in computers we need vast knowledge of electronics .world is converging dear!!!
ECET0purdue
i aways thought electrical was in electronic engineering?
Guest Alun
No they are separate subjects, just like aeronautics, civil engineering and mechanical engineering.
ECET0purdue
i had to learn 80% of electrical before i started learning electronics
