Trevor Rymell
HiI'm planning to make the UV Exposure Unit in the projects section using 4 x 8 watt blacklight tubes. Can anyone tell me if there is anything critical about the distance between the tubes and the distance between gthe tubes and the glass? Thanks in advance.Trevor

MP
If the tubes are spaced too far apart, you could get striping on the board. Mine are as close as I can get them, which is a few inches apart due to the width of the fixtures. What I refer to striping is where bands of light are more intense and develop better than the other parts of the board. Also, if the tubes are too close to the board, you will experience overexposure and possible undercutting of the traces. It is best to perform some tests on a few boards. After this, you will know your best height and exposure time. Then you will not have to do it again.MP
