jstevenperry
I have a question about the millipede project (http://www.electronics-lab.com/projects/games/002/index.html). What the heck are "PagerMotors" and where do I get them? Thanks!
audioguru
Hi Js,A pager motor swings a little weight around and is used as the vibrator alert in a wireless pager or cell phone. I have one from my daughter's cell phone that got run over by a few hundred cars.I salvaged its tiny electret microphone and I looked at the "pager motor" for a long time wondering what it was. I removed it and connected a 1.5V battery to it and it vibrated all over the place!Pager motors are tiny, about the same size as in the drawing. I don't know how to remove the small weight on the shaft.
jstevenperry
Okay, cool. Well, I have seen vibrating motors in the various electronics catalogs. So now I know what to look for. Thanks.
jstevenperry
I found some of these pager motors here: http://www.mpja.com/productview.asp?product=12343+MD
audioguru
The cell phone vibrator motor I have is about 2/3 the size of that one.
jstevenperry
They make 'em smaller. Here's one that's 2/3 the size of the one in the link I sent, but costs $1 more each. http://www.mpja.com/productview.asp?product=12342+MD. The millipede project specs call for 16 of these motors. I was trying to keep the cost low.--s
ante
Hi Steven,If you are on a tight budget you could buy surplus motors here: http://www.voti.nl/shop/p/MOT-03.html
jstevenperry
Thanks for the link. The motors I want are out of stock :-( but the prices are good (even after conversion from Euros to dollars). I'll check back with them...
