200W kemokit-need help

The booster transistors are supposed to turn on when the voltage across the 2.2 ohm resistors is about 0.7V. Therefore the power in the resistors is only 222mW half the time when the amp is working fairly hard.

Maybe your power supply voltage is too high for the TDA2030 ICs. Their absolute max voltage is only 36V. Use TDA2030A ICs that have an absolute max voltage rating of 44V.

There is no way the circuit will make 200W in 4 ohms. 120W to about 150W at clipping, probably.

Is it possible to replace the 2030A with TDA2050 which has a much higher voltage rating?  Will it work?

The project's parts list should say to use TDA2030A ICs because they have a high enough voltage rating.
The TDA2050 will also work in that circuit, but KT transistors will fail because they are rated for only 40V.

Thanx!!!!

I have installed the TDA2050 in the circuit but the 2.2 resistors blows (actually 3 of them gave in) again, is it the wattage this time? should i choose a higher one? What could be the problem this time?  ??? ??? ??? I would really like to make the circuit work!!!

Thanks!!!!

What is the amp doing when the resistors blow?
Without a signal, the TDA2050 amps have a 60mA corrent drain. That is only 8mW in each resistor.
With the amp at full output, the max voltage across each resistor is only about 1.2V, so each resistor dissipates only 655mW for half the time, so 1/2W resistors should be fine.

Did you insulate the amp ICs from the heatsinks?
Are the heatsinks insulatoed from each other?
What is your DC supply voltage?
Are the pins on the transistors connected correctly?
