audioguru
Hello Gevv,Please tell us something about your amplifier.Does it have low distortion? Is it wideband?

audioguru
I don't want to pay Silicon Chip magazine to read their article.Instead, I found a kit of the amp and it produces 200W into 8 ohms or 350W into 4 ohms. One of the kits supplied subtitute transistors that had a different pin-out and wouldn't fit on the pcb. zak4000
Whats a ESP file?? Its in the studio_350w_amp_gevv.rar/studio 350 pcb.zipI'm gussing its some sort of picture... ???
zak4000
I found out what a ESP file is.For those who don't know what it is, its a picture file that needs to be opened with Abode Illistrator or Coral Draw.
zak4000
What current rating should the 6.8uF inductor L1 be?And what V/A should the transformer be?
audioguru
What current rating should the 6.8uF inductor L1 be?350W into 4 ohms is a peak current of 13.3A. 200W into 8 ohms is a peak current of 7.1A.And what V/A should the transformer be?If used to play music then it won't be continuously operating at full output. So a transformer rated for half the rated power is fine. 100VA for an 8 ohm speaker or 175VA for a 4 ohm speaker.
zak4000
So a 55V+55V 225VA Tranformer with 2x 4700uF Caps. be enough?Would it be ok to swap the MJL21194 and MJL21193 with any of these?http://www.rapidonline.com/productinfo.aspx?id=-1&tier1=Electronic+Components&tier2=Semicon-Discrete+Devices&tier3=MOSFETS&tier4=Audio+FETs&moduleno=67332
audioguru
There are many things to consider when substituting power transistors:Voltage, current, power dissipation, frequency response, etc.
