audioguru Posted July 10, 2006 Report Share Posted July 10, 2006 To make 230VAC with a sinewave, the output of the amplifier must be 650Vp-p.So it is practical to make a class-D amplifier with a low output voltage but a high output current then stepup the voltage with a transformer. It quickly got very warm with 180W output and so the mosfets need better heatsinking.Efficiency was about 86%.Note that its power supply is positive and negative 50VDC.
