Drop AC votage from 110v ac to 80 volt ac????

I have an overhead projector that uses a 82 volt 360 watt ac optic bulb  The projector has a

reduction circuit 120 volt to 82 volt ac (( fried!) a voltage regulator Diode and a

suppressor diode))  Someone tried to fix it and left the wiring connected wrong also.
It there a basic circuit that I can make to drop the voltage from 120 volt to 80 volt so I don't burn out the lamp?
I need to use this Projector so you're help is much appreciated.
