daz007
Hey guys just curious, how much of an EMP would you have to generate to disable a car from say about 20-30 meters away?
Hero999
A lot. Don't even try to do it, it's a very stupid, dangerous and illegal idea.
steven
its on u tube the emp pulse device and it shows the car being neutralized by it and a radio controlled plane to the
Hero999
So its on YouTube so it must be true. ::)How about posting a link? It's probably fake.

Hero999
That's a fairly low powered device and probably has to be right next to what you want to kill. There's a mistake in the schematic, a NPN transistor should be used not a PNP, I think they got the symbol wrong. steven
thankyou hero 999 long time no hear dident realize the error in the emp circiut , anything i allso saw on youtube ill have to try find them again if im lucky and post the link

Silent Jack
At one time law enforcement was going to deploy these disc launchers under their cruisers. The disc was fired under a suspects vehicle and used a powerful microwave frequency burst to toast the vehicle's onboard electronics to shut it down. Or was it radio frequency? Been many years. I don't believe they were ever widely deployed. Some suggested the reason was the possibility of disabling a pursuit vehicle, though I suspect cost was more likely its down fall. Hero999 is also quite correct; EMP devices violate numerous federal laws and can get you into deep dooky. If you were trying to construct an anti-theft device, rfid type tech would be lawful, useful and not overly difficult to deploy.
Hero999
I would've thought stingers would be a more cost effective solution which have been in use for many years.Microwaves are just high frequency radio waves, typically >1GHz. kdor
To put in perspective -a small charge w/deionized magnetic particles binded w/graphitewas to detonate 55,000ft. above kansas, the entire US would become "offline"-Anydevice using any voltage would catastroficaly fail for at least 2 weeks or until replaced.Think of bull in china shop, any charged particles dispersed near power grid attracts toinductance(magnetic fields)which in turn shortout all electronics. Now for your question,I would use an overload circuit.Imagine hitting a cars computer w/a stun gun,it would fry internal components. There is several ways, still got questions,e-mail me.
