DaftFunk Posted May 9, 2011 Report Posted May 9, 2011 Good evening folks, very new to the electronics game. I've decided to create a Mac Mini acrylic rack mount with integrated fans controlled by a temperature sensor. This is my plan, use a 5v from the USB to power the fan and have a thermal switch in the middle to start it up when it meets the thermal sensor temperature then cut out when it goes below that temperature. I understand using a thermostat would give me variable control but I'm after a really simple design. I've found these http://www.rapidonline.com/sku/Electronic-Components/Sensors/Thermal-Sensors/Auto-reset-thermal-switches/35569/26-7404They're not the temp I want but would they work to simply wire them between fan and power? I'm after a 30c switch reallyThanks in advance Quote
Hero999 Posted May 9, 2011 Report Posted May 9, 2011 The switch does the reverse of what you want, it's off when the temperature exceeds 40oC and turns off when the temperature falls below 25oC. Quote
DaftFunk Posted May 10, 2011 Author Report Posted May 10, 2011 I think I may have found the right onehttp://gb.mouser.com/ProductDetail/Stancor/3F11-100/?qs=sGAEpiMZZMud6ugn6h0MdptnTSKSFUB%2fdCMoJL0vPd4%3d Quote
