Getting stable volume(sound) level even when I/P sound level is increased/decrea

Please help in a project which can give constant level of volume at its output whether the input volume level is increased/decreased (within certain limits) and microphone should act as input device.
The out put volume level should be automatical maintained at fixed pre-determined level without any manual adjustment required.

P.S.- Please start from very basic and speacial consideration towards power consumption

Look in Google for an audio compressor limiter circuit. When the average input becomes too high then it reduces the level down to normal. When the average level becomes too low then it increases it up to normal but it also increases background noise when there is no program sound.

Some audio compressor limiter circuits react slowly so a loud sound blasts at full volume until the circuit can reduce it. Most circuits slowly increase the level back to normal when a loud program sound level  decreases to normal. Then the gain is said to be "breathing".

Power consumption is determined by the parts used and their load impedance. Low current opamps have poor high frequency response and might cause high distortion (an LM358 or LM324 low power opamp).
