Guest adrian1472
Hello,I followed the instructions on the site about recelling a lithium ion battery pack but unfortunately it didn't work out quite right.I have a 6 cell battery pack from my gateway which I recelled when I put the battery back in the laptop it ran the laptop but it wouldn't charge when I plugged it in. So I ran it down hoping that it may charge once the voltage dropped, I was wrong. I don't really know where to go from here. Here is some of the info from about the battery that may be helpful.adrian8@gateway-ubuntu-sda8:~$ cat /proc/acpi/battery/BAT0/infopresent: yesdesign capacity: 57720 mWhlast full capacity: 11888 mWhbattery technology: rechargeabledesign voltage: 11100 mVdesign capacity warning: 3996 mWhdesign capacity low: 0 mWhcycle count: 0capacity granularity 1: 355 mWhcapacity granularity 2: 355 mWhmodel number: W35052LBserial number: 111005200 battery type: 4C 69 00 00 00OEM info: Gatewayadrian8@gateway-ubuntu-sda8:~$ cat /proc/acpi/battery/BAT0/statepresent: yescapacity state: okcharging state: chargingpresent rate: 0 mWremaining capacity: 1 mWhpresent voltage: 10974 mVadrian8@gateway-ubuntu-sda8:~$ acpi -VBattery 0: Charging, 0%, charging at zero rate - will never fully charge.Battery 0: design capacity 5259 mAh, last full capacity 1083 mAh = 20%Adapter 0: on-lineThermal 0: ok, 52.0 degrees CThermal 0: trip point 0 switches to mode critical at temperature 100.0 degrees CCooling 0: LCD 0 of 7Cooling 1: Processor 0 of 10Cooling 2: Processor 0 of 10Thank in advance for any help. Hero999
A safety feature of battery management systems is to refuse to charge the battery again once the voltage has dropped below a certain level. The only way round it is to reset the battery management system.
Guest adrian1472
Thanks for the reply, I wish I knew this before I would of soldered a set of cells to the board before replacing the old cells. I guess you have to make mistakes to learn. How could you reset the battery management system?
