Guest tjeffords Posted March 7, 2013 Report Posted March 7, 2013 I'm looking for a LM317 Regulator that I can recycle out of a stockpile of old used electronics. and idea what items I could easily find them in. any and all help would be amazing. Quote
Hero999 Posted March 8, 2013 Report Posted March 8, 2013 Why not buy one? The LM317 is a cheap commonly available part. If you see one in an old piece of electronics then use it, but it may not be as reliable as a new one. You should always opt for new parts whenever possible. Quote
Guest tjeffords Posted March 8, 2013 Report Posted March 8, 2013 I just figured that if I could use some recycled parts first to do test rns then if it works I would finalize it and build a final version with all new parts. Quote
Hero999 Posted March 10, 2013 Report Posted March 10, 2013 That's probably not such a good idea. It's a fairly low cost part and if you're unlucky enough to find a bad one in an old piece of equipment, you could waste a lot of time fault finding. It's really best practise to use new and known good parts for a prototype. Quote
