This is an example of construction design. What do you think, is this cool or just stupid and dangerous or is it perhaps art? Would you consider building a project along these lines? 8)

Well, looks like someone has a PCBphobia! ;D
Yeah, I guess it looks like art. I don't know if it does something, looks like a counter: Perhaps you could try capture it?

I've built some pretty bad looking projects in my day, but nothing on this kind of scale.

I'm opting for a low-precision digital thermometer myself--given the mix of what looks like RCA cans in there. A vintage circuit to be sure.

I can go for leaning in the direction of art. It would look kind of cool, and a bit more stable, encapsulated in good-quality resin.

Only after seeing this, have I come up with some similar ideas that would make my wife roll her eyes. I could probably be talked into something like that. ;)

Well my first thoughts were, what a monstrosity . But then I realised it appears that every component there has a function, I can't help to be impressed 8). Although I do feel a kookaburra would have been a better component choice, its performance is far more superior then a Peacock, for a laugh ;D ;D ;D.

Well as far as safety is concerned it's not too dangerous either, I assume no live parts are exposed on the mains side or the transformer and as the secondary is fused. I can't see any risk of shock or fire.

Look at this for an interesting audio oscillator construction. ;D

OMG, it's fantastic! I want to make something like this. Maybe an FM receiver in a transparent cover.

Hi All

doesn't look too dissimilar to a standard first try HF air-wire found in most electronics labs, minus the bird of course  ;D

Hi All

If slightly off topic, sorry  :-[

Because air-wire construction is fast and fun, perhaps we might like a photo competition, not forgetting upload limts, of working circuits built this way?

What do you think?

Hi Ante

too embarassing, thats my normal standard of construction.  Next time I build one I'll try to remember to post!

Not too long ago I built a VHF oscilator like this because I couldn't get the damn thing to work on veroboard. ;D
