    Lowry C-500 organ pedals inoperative

Have you checked that you have +24V on the pedal switch contacts? I used to work at Lowrey many years ago when the C-500 was in production.

    MCP23017 with raspberry pi

On the MCP23017 all the I/O lines default to inputs on power up. You need to set them so all the relays will be off before you configure the I/O lines as outputs.

guitar circuit non isolated ground problem / short???

Some fuzz pedals using Germanium transistors have this problem, this is because they use PNP transistors and the polarity of the power connections are reversed. The "ground" of the Germanium pedal is connected to the positive of the power supply. Other pedals have the ground connected to the...

Build a 120 vac to 18vdc Power Supply for DC Tool

I agree, but I don't think even an "off the shelf" switch mode PSU would handle the startup current of that motor. My suggestion would be buy a new saw.

    The organ project

    0. Good, sounds like you are pretty well set then. The biggest cause of sound problems with old organs are dirty switch contacts. I would try turning on a voice for the upper keyboard such as horn or trumpet and hold down a few keys, while holding the keys try working some of the tab switches...

    The organ project

I used to work for Lowrey many years ago. If you look under the keyboard shelf there should be a plate with the model number. Let us know, maybe I can find where the sound is controlled from.

    This some kind lightbulb or...

Bulbs like yours are frequently wired across the telephone line connectors on alarm systems to shunt high voltage transients to ground to protect the circuitry.
