They told me the price and I either accept it and pay up and look happy or I say I don't want it repaired and leave it with them as it's useless - or I pay the P&P to have it...

    I think you have misunderstood... I don't have a camera attached at the moment... The problem is just that the system does nothing more than show the boot screen and then turn off and continues cycling like this until I turn it off at the power button...
