    Solenoid Current Flow

I learned myself LTspice , calculated the inductance of my coil and its about 1 micro Henry and end up with this I think is more realistic because I read capacitors discharge into a coil very fast like 2-10 miliseconds. I don't know about the initial 80Amps.

    Solenoid Current Flow

Thanks for the reply, the capacitor is 400V I use it at 300V and the Coil resistance is 3ohms.

    Solenoid Current Flow

    I found this http://hyperphysics.phy-astr.gsu.edu/hbase/electric/capdis.html initial I = V/R so I (current) = 300V / 3ohm = 100Amps

    Solenoid Current Flow

So how do I calculate I (current) if I have the coil inductance and coil resistance value ? Solenoid has no ferromagnetic core, it is empty and I want to calculate only the initial maximum I (current).

    Solenoid Current Flow

Hello, I want to calculate the theoretical magnetic field strength in a Solenoid by discharging a Capacitor into it. So magnetic field strength B = u * N/L * I , but how do I calculate I (current) ? Lets say I have 300V 1000microfarad Capacitor, so energy stored W is 45 Joules or Watts. I =...

    Transistor-triggered photogate

Thanks for the help, the LED is white and the SCR is a BTA16.

    Transistor-triggered photogate

It's a photogate detector with 2 diodes an emitter and a detector, so when a fast object is moving between the diodes it triggers the SCR the rest condition is with no obstructions between the diodes.

Hello, any idea how to make this circuit work with a 6v power supply ?

    Thyristor Help

Hello! I have a BT151 500R rated 500V thyristor and I want to use it in forward conducting state, so I when a current flows into the gate the anode cathode starts conducting. I need to know if the anode cathode path can support a 300V Capacitor 1000uf discharge plus a coil without frying.

    Need help testing this circuit

Thanks guys and especially Audioguru, the circuit you draw does the job. I will be back ...:) because this was just phase 1 .

    Need help testing this circuit

Well my variable resistor was broken I replaced it with a 22k rezistor and OMG and the light led is turning off and on depending on the photogate status. I don't know how but its working even with the SCR or without it. With no SCR diagram looks like this. Original

    Need help testing this circuit

I will try that hevans1944, is it normal that the voltage at the testing light led stays always at 2,8V regardless if the photogate is blocked or not.

    Need help testing this circuit

I replaced the SCR and phototransistor and test light led stays turned on all the time no matter if the photogate is blocked or not, voltage between ground and base transistor 2N2222 is 4,5V with photogate blocked and 2V with photogate clear.
