    Replacement relays?

I removed the bad relay from the microwave oven and took photos of the pins. The relay was marked with its voltage and current specs, but the part number didn't turn up in any web searches. I searched through hundreds of relays online and asked friends to help me search as well. Once I found a...

    Replacement relays?

I just realized I never posted the promised update! This replacement relay worked great and I fixed my microwave. However, after three years, it just broke again this week -- possibly with a blown fuse. I will dig in this weekend. :)

Can you share the reason you want to avoid Arduinos entirely? If the reason is because you want to avoid programming, that would rule out microcontrollers generally, including Arduino, ATtiny, etc. If you are trying to avoid Arduinos specifically and are comfortable with programming, you can...

Clean square waves using a 555 timer?

I am the original poster. It's been two years, but I'm still following the thread. :) I look forward to seeing your results! :)

These chips don't require an Arduino, but that's certainly an inexpensive approach to programming them. Is that a concern for you? I assumed you only wanted to avoid Arduinos in the final circuit -- not as an intermediate step in your tool chain.

Hello! I'm a ham (W6ARY) and I would use an ATtiny: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Atmel_AVR_ATtiny_comparison_chart These chips are made by Atmel, the same company that makes the ATmega used in Arduinos, but the ATtiny is much smaller, simpler and cheaper. A six or eight pin version would be...

    Mysterious vacuum tube

I think we figured it out. It appears to be an RCA Radiotron UX-171-A, used in the final stage of radios and televisions for audio amplification. http://www.nmr.mgh.harvard.edu/~reese/RC10/RC10-76.GIF

    Mysterious vacuum tube

A friend found this vacuum tube on the beach near San Francisco. Can anyone help me ID it? Anything would help -- function, age, manufacturer, etc. I haven't seen it in person yet, so I can't say whether it has any legible markings.

    Replacement relays?

@Minder: My son's scout leader found this one on eBay (although these photos are from another source): I seems like a good match, in dimensions, pin-out, pin shapes and best-guess specifications, so I ordered a few. I'll post an update after I receive them and try them out.

    Replacement relays?

@(*steve*): The links provided by @Minder were not Digikey links. Those links are to TEDSS, a discount component site that doesn't list any specifications or links to datasheets. There are no CDE relays listed on Digikey and I haven't yet found any relays on Digikey with the same pinout as...

    Replacement relays?

@Minder: Thanks for the links. Yes, that relay looks similar, but I can't find any specifications either for it or for the relays I want to replace. Do you (or anyone else) know of a good site for getting specs on relays, both current and out of production?

    Replacement relays?

I'd like to find a replacement for this relay: The markings on the relay are: 80B43249S01 611-1217HQ CDE 24VDC MEXICO 718 Using a digital caliper, the outside measurements of the relay (not including the pins) are: W: 30.64 mm D: 18.90 mm H: 29.39 mm The relay has five pins on the...

Clean square waves using a 555 timer?

@MIL-Q Thanks for letting me know! If I experience side effects in a practical circuit, I'll give your solution a try!

I used R = 1K and C = 0.1uF, which gives a cut-off frequency around 1600 Hz. I used a Rigol DS1102E oscilloscope in X-Y mode to view the waveforms. The hypercube images you see are bitmap screen captures directly from the scope to a USB thumb drive. The wires you see in the circuit photo...

Absolutely! I believe the only difference is the ATtiny85 has four times as much memory as the ATtiny25.
