    What fluke do you own? They must change it quite a bit on all their meters. I have the 177 and 289. The 177 uses a 9v battery and gives out over 7v on the diode test. The 289 uses 6 x AA’s and gives out 5.2v ish. I have the Brymen 867s too which gives out a poor 2.9v, one feature where I feel...

    I think you stuck with the 1.6v unless you really know how the insides work. There probably will be a way to change it but I doubt it will be as simple as changing a battery out. In saying that there are some very clever guys on the forum so one may have an easy fix for you. Good luck however...

    I don't think there are a lot of big changes. Just subtle ones, but all good ones. The site seems to pop out at you a bit more making things easier to see and follow. The site was well set out anyways and the changes have just made a great site better I think. Well done Ian! :)

    How do you verify your ohmeter works?

    Post a clear picture of a couple of the resistors you are trying to measure and someone here will tell you roughly what your meter should read. You'll be doing well to get a resistor to measure exactly what the stripes say it should. A clear picture will help loads! :)

    I guessed the answer was to do with the transistors before I got to see Audioguru's detailed answer to the question. I didn't know the exact numbers but I guessed that was where the 10mA reading was coming from. I am learning :)

    I'm sure with all mobility chargers unless there is some value sent back from the batteries before it charges it won't start charging. Not sure if it's a Volts or Amps value.     I would strongly agree with that. An experienced eye over a good quality close up photo could very easy spot something not obvious to us. Like k-e says...not much to lose.

    I agree with k-e. Also, I know if the charger doesn't see a set value from the batteries when first connected it won't start the charging sequence. Will this affect the result when you probe the XLR plug coming out the charger with a meter? It's a strange one for sure!
