    Powering LEDs from batteries

4.5v no resistor would fry the LED.

    Timer circuit

Chickwolf, to trigger the ic, pin 2 goes to negative. (Simply connecting this wire to negative) Pin 3 goes to your led (with a 300ohm resistor) (long leg) - goes to ground / negative .... (short leg)

    Timer circuit

Pin 2 detects a low signal, from ground which fires off the 555 (eg from a button)

    Led project

it outputs 12vac how did you plan on making them flicker?

Gave it a go, but ultimately I'm too thick.

I'd opt for PWM output rather than relying on the a huge watt resistor alone...

    Sensor for Human detection

Maybe an infrared sensor? to determine if the body is giving off some kind of heat source? might be useless on a hot day though lol, then you'd need to look for a cooler heat source.

You would think Boeing would know better

There has to be hydraulics, there's no way they'd rely on servo's and other motors to do the job? ... if you're right, i'm not going on one.....

    Electronics beginner questions?

Depends on your interests, lots of hardware and electronics for all kinds of different circuits, you need to think about the basics. - eg way to power it. So what exactly has taken your eye and what would you like to do? If you're starting from scratch, you'll need a power supply, a variable...

    How to wire a LED

that's a little incan bulb, replacing it would be easy enough with an LED.... (try to finder an LED which is on the warmer side, or you'll not get the street lamp feel (high/low pressure sodium lamps) ... basically, what LED are you using?

    led heartbeat

That heart beat one seems to be a very wasteful circuit http://img822.imageshack.us/img822/6900/ledheartbeat1fading.jpg

    led heartbeat

a 3rd option is to use a micro controller. it would be only a few lines long and only a very basic chip would be required to do a heart beat effect and a whole lot more..... (eg, attiny85 or a PIC)

Can You Fake a Large Pot?

You can fake a large pot, use a piece of cardboard, paint a pot, and then set it near a wall, nobody will notice a difference :)

    Toggle button NE555 and MCU

wow, your first circuit should be sold to restaurants for kids to find the beginning and end point while waiting for their meal LOL :D

Dimming inductive loads using SSR causes SSR to break

Problems came in - as expected - when I tried to dim some inductive loads. In this case I'm talking about those 12V halogen light spots which obviously have a transformer transforming the 220V to 12VAC. Various problems would occur, mostly the SSR would either physically break in an always on or...

DC supplied to a DC converter

You risk blowing the device (very likely) that converts your rectified 120VAC to around 140VDC... Now the AC > DC part, well if it used a Transformer, the transformer would short and over heat. if it was using a Switch Mode Power Supply, I'm not entirely sure what would happen as the first...

Make a "blinker" for LED panel?

5% tolerance from a 60hz power supply... Anyway how fast slow do you want it to blink? if it's slow then you might try a Solid State Relay (and control the mains voltage / on / off) ... but if it's a fast rate - more than 1 flash a second, it means opening it up and modifying it......

    Electrocution. What kills?

What people are missing out here is the word "Luck", Electricity will flow where there is the least amount of resistance in your body, eg, I once touched an almost fully charged 340v capacitor, I felt the spark penetrate my skin on my right hand then almost a fraction of a second later through...

    disolvable circuits !! interesting

BUT.... I bet you now, 100% apple will start using modules of their phones designed from this clever technique in certain parts, headphones, connectors, anything that gets used a lot just to drive up profits on replacement parts.. No madam, it's been dissolved, but how? she thinks back, omg...

    disolvable circuits !! interesting

Give's a new meaning to dropping it in water.... No thanks, I want to give all my devices a treatment of hydrophobia (i think that's the correct word lol) so it repels water...
