Current Threshhold Detection circuit using ACPL-K370

Welcome to EP Craig. Please post a block diagram of your remote lighting system and the information echo you're trying to achieve. I think it'll help getting the ball rolling. BTW, you said that with the all lights off quiescent current = 50mA. Is that a measure of the 240VAC input current...

    Simulating a Wheatstone Bridge/Extensometer

Hello Neil and welcome to EP. Firstly, this appears to be a class assignment which should have been posted in our Electronics Homework section. https://www.electronicspoint.com/forums/electronics-homework-help.106/ That said the replies you receive will only aid in pointing you in the right...

    12V relay with 9v battery_not working

You can do that but will require an additional series resistor who's value must be calculated using Ohms Law. Do you know how to do it? Chris

    12V relay with 9v battery_not working

You may also want to add a kickback diode (1N4002) as shown. It will increase the longevity of your switch. Chris

    12V relay with 9v battery_not working

You can also use a 12V wall wart. Most of us have massive collections of these things. Whatever you do DON'T be tempted to use an automobile or motorcycle battery. They are unforgiving if you make a mistake and can deliver enough current to weld a 3/4" drive socket wrench! Chris

Ed, I forgot to thank you for expunging the headache this thread has been giving me. :D Chris

Burned a solenoid with a relay timer, and I don't know why

That's got to be the most offensive (not politically correct) post I've ever read. I think I loved it! :p Chris

    Designing a Time Delayed Relay

I've never used PSC or VB Forums for cut and paste (as is) but both sites have proven invaluable for either building an apps foundation or patching holes in my own. If it were not for a PC's Serial Port I doubt that I ever would have ventured into programming. Fact is I'll always be a VB6 Duffer...

    Designing a Time Delayed Relay

Hop, I've had a registered copy of VB6 Pro since 1998. I've written reams of code in VB6 and the only.. and I do mean only "GoTo" code I've ever written is in conjunction with "On Error GoTo". So Yes, even in VB6 GoTo is something to be avoided and considered spaghetti code. Picaxe Basic is a...

    Designing a Time Delayed Relay

That would be Hop's department as I don't speak ASM or C of any flavor. I did try playing with ASM once but when I asked myself if I was having fun yet a little voice responded with another question... "Chris, do you enjoy root canals"? Chris

Microcontroller project for my pool pumps

I've been out of town vacationing in the surf. Didn't bring my laptop and don't do smart phones. I have enough addictions already. Anyway, I told you way back in this thread to monitor the 24VAC output of the transformer with your DMM while connecting the contactor coils to it. This test would...

    Hybrid Electric Engine

It's odd that I missed this topic back in 2012. It's an interesting thread. While not mirroring your concept the HSM (Home Shop Machinist) community have been playing with Solenoids mimicking piston engines for quite some time now. You can view a host of these beautiful models in operation on...
